Forums - Gaming Discussion - About Twenty Companies Including Sega Made a Bid on Atlus, 20 Billion Yen Offered

Atlus could buy itself. They don't need a parent company.

Around the Network

There are three possible outcomes (listed in order from best to worse for gamers in general).

1. Buying company realizes that Atlus properties made for various platforms and various tastes and wishes to continue that -- perhaps with some expansion and better decision-making.

2. Buying company wants to use IP to expand its lineup and focus on "new areas of development: (read the current infatuation with development for mobile OS platforms).

3. Buying company wishes to make Atlus a first/second-party developer.

Given the market, I expect the second choice, would not be surprised by the third (but probably not by Sony since it does not have the cash reserves), and would be (pleasantly) surprised by the first.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

They wont allow another company prove them wrong. If SEGA's say they dont think Valk3 wont sell they want that perception up. If they give it to Aksys and the game sells that will give ammo fans snd embarrass them. I would rather us not them from another then my favorites go through embarrassment.

I like how the characters in the second half of your signature are staring up at this with the exact same expression I had when I read it.

I'm jokin btw.

That would be the very best outcome imaginable !

...aside from Nintendo picking them up....:P

What exactly did Index do?

I'd be pissed if Sega gets this.. (and this is coming from a big Sega fan in the past.) they've basically thrown in the towel the last 2 years by refusing to bring in games for the West. They would kill Atlus.

Heck, I'd rather Sony/Nintendo buy them because they'd at least bother to localize the sodding games. Not that I want them to.. I don't want any of the big 3 to buy them out. GungHo would be a sound choice though.

The Tales/ Mistwalker and Square exclusives didn´t help much....and Microsoft has a history of mishandling their acquired studios !

...oh god....even Capcom nvm....even Square would be better !
