Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Official Gamescom Thread. PS4 release Date. Vita Price Cut. 1M+ PS4 preorders

I don't understand this sometimes. People used to ridicule Sony for announcing games too far in advance. Now when they don't announce these games everyone gets upset. I only want to know about games in the immediate future. If it doesn't release in the next 6 months, I don't care about it. I know Sony has great studios making games for them, all I need to know is are they making something. And yes most of them are.

The launch window is already packed, I dont need more games announced to justify my purchase. My justification is Sony always released great games every year from at least one of their studios. The games are coming, you would have to be a moron to not see that.

I agree Vita was lackluster,  no new AAA games sucked. But why should Sony show all their cards regarding PS4 when they have such momentum going on? PS4 will literaly sell itself for the first couple of months thanks to Microsofts fuck ups and its launchprice. They already have 1 million preorders.

You must be kidding yourself if you think ND and SSM dont work on Holiday 2014 games.

That is the same arguement Nintendo fans presented when Wii U was looking hopeless. I don't get excited over titles I assume to be in developement, I but forf games which I have seen and get a taste of. I'm sure those who express their dissapointment, do so because they aren't excited aboout of the PS4 exclusives right now. No ones suggesting they announce all their fall 2014 titles, but it is assumed that if they have a healthy spread of exclusives for 2014 that they would show some of them off. The Infamous trailer was verging on teaser and The Order didn't even make an appearance. Amongst other things they more or less confirmed that the PS eye will be a irrelevant peripheral.

Above all I think I've just concluded that their launch exclusives don't look very appealing.

Go look at the launch lineup and post launch PS4 games. There are more than enough games announced to last until Q3 2014. Next year Q1 and Q2 will be great: inFamous SS, Transistor, Planetside 2, FF14, Diablo 3, The Crew, Binding of Isaac, Hotline Miami 2 are just off the top of my head.

Infamous is the only AAA exclusive.

Planetside 2, Diablo 3 and FF14 are not AAA anymore?

Planetside 2 launch day (and old), diablo 3 is on xbox too and FF14 is already available on ps3

Thought it was great.

I judge games off the content of their code, not the size of the developer.

best show ever ? show was lame as fuck, only indie games :S

Did you remember the latest Gamescom shows? This one was really great.

1 million pre-orders for PS4 is pretty impressive. Any guesses at what it will shift launch day?

I actually can't wait to try some of the indie games that will come to Vita also

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

I think there is a difference between annoucning games years in advance and announcing games 9months in advance. Theres no doubt that the PS4 already has a solid window but theys showed so little of its exclusives (Killzone, Driveclub, Knack, Infamous and The Order) and they didn't announce any big titles which they've actually been hinting about for ages. Unfortunately when Sony said at E3 that they are saving PS4 game reveals for gamescon people don't assume them to be refering to indie titles.

The same was assumed for the PS3 but it receive its first must have exclusive until summer 2008, 16months after it launched.

Arent those games already announced?  Why the need to continually show games that everyone knows about?  A games company would only show the same games over and over if that was all they had.   And they did announce alot of games,  just because they arent what you wanted big fucking deal, not that you will be buying a ps4 anyway.

And what have they been hinting at for ages?  They have announced all their major studios are working on games,  why the need to know about them before they want us to know about them.  If they were needed, they would have shown them.  Plus its not like they cant still announce games,  Gamescon is far from over.

As for your attempt to dig at the PS3, whatever.  I would argue Resistance was a must have exclusive, which was a launch title, and so was Uncharted, which only came out a year later.  The first game on 360 worth having didnt come out till a year after release either. So, I think you should take a real look at other previous consoles and look at how shitty their launch games are and then compare them to what we have now.  They both have far more than the average person can handle.   And its not like either one really has a leg up on the other at this point either.

Did you see the Titanfall gameplay today? Well that blew me away, in a way which its reveal didn't. I Don't feel like sony have showed of their exclusives extensively.

As for the developers who haven't shown their games, I really need to see it to get hyped and buy a system for it. Remember people assuming retro were going to arrive at E3 with Metroid Prime 4 but instead arrived with Donkey Kong... well essentially that.

I love my ps3, I was just making the point that sony having amazing exclusives isn't always garunteed. Guess it personal preference, Uncharted 1 certainly wasn't must have in my mind and thats coming from a massive fan of Uncharted 2 and 3. And Xbox had Elderscrolls and Gears which were both massive. Anyway you said you didn't understand, I'm just giving you perspect. Don't mistake me for some sort of sony hate, their confernce just fell below my expectations.

can anybody help me with the PS4/PS3 games?

Well you can put Titanfall right to the top of things I don't understand.  It really doesnt look like anything spectacular.  Gimme Halo, Gears and Killzone all day over that.   As for Sony's exclusives,  I already seen enough at E3. Should more details come out about that, yeah maybe,  but its not like they cant give those out in other ways.

Why,  if you know a great developer has a game coming out, If 343 or Epic Games said they were releasing another Halo or Gears, or even just new games for the Xbox One, I wouldnt need a reveal to be hyped about it.  I know they make great games.

They arent garunteed, but there is a great chance for them to be given their previous works.  And Gears was Sept 2008 amd Oblivion came out for PS3 6 months after launch.  So again nothing really changes.

As for the expectations,  I just think everyone needs to stop letting their expectations get out of control.   Its why the E3 conference for Microsoft sucked, and why Sony looked like it blew them out of the water,  and why the Gamescon conferences  were vice versa.  When in reality they were very similar in both conferences.  And they did what they needed to do.  Show games, which both did.
