None of these games were developed by Nintendo (published by Nintendo in Japan and Europe maybe but not made by Nintendo) so Nintendo wouldn't I expect have those options. Plus they were release in Japan about two years prior to their eventual NA release. When Wii was still very relevant.

Aside as mentioned late Japanese ports were the only things even released on Wii in it's last year.

They are all Nintendo IPs or funded IPs though right?  They released a year before the Wii U and slightly enhancing them a bit for HD wouldn't have taken those developers much more time or resource IMHO.

I believe Nintendo owns or co-owns The Last Story (or maybe they just help fund it).

They published Pandora's Towers but I doubt they own the rights.

Rodea and Earthseeker Nintendo had absolutely no relation to and therefore couldn't influence them at all. Rodea for Wii was actually done a long time ago, before WiiU but the publisher decided not to publish it likely because Wii software sales had dropped right off by that point and/or because they wanted to do a simultaneous release with 3DS (which was sidetracked and still in development now). However sales on Wii titles are so weak now it's unlikely to ever be published on Wii (or WiiU) at this point despite being designed around motion controls. Be nice if they eventually released in on the web (after 3DS sales stopped) so Wii fans could finally enjoy it.

Pandora's Tower is co-developed by Nintendo so they probably own the IP.  The Last Story was funded by Nintendo so they probably co-owns the rights just like Eternal Darkness. (so does Nintendo co-own the rights to W101 or Bayo2?)  Rodea and Earthseeker are games that Nintendo have nothing to do with but have a great niche following here on the west for some reason.  I especially like how Rodea is actually completed and looks like it belongs in HD; thus  an easy pick up for Nintendo to up-enhanced for the Wii U (if they are looking to partner with more developers to expand their library).

The Last Story is not only the most possible answer, but is also the one that would benefit the most. It could've used the GamePad's features to deliver its promise of deep tactics along with fast-paced combat. But... I would rather have Mistwalker create a game from the ground up for Wii U and forget about TLS altogether.

Pandora's Tower and Rodea would have to be significantly altered in order for the GamePad to be a reasonable control option, and both games had already been in development for a very long period of time. Earth Seeker is a tough sell because it bombed in Japan to begin with. It could find an audience in the West on the RPG-starved Wii U, but I'm not convinced that it's worth the effort.

I think a Xenoblade HD port for Wii U might be worthwhile. But that's off-topic.

Interesting points though Rodea is already being modified in order to run on a touchscreen.  EarthSeeker was a sleeper in Japan and it would have definitely found a niche here if given a chance.

Out of those, the only one that still has a possibility for a WiiU release is Rodea, which we all thought was cancelled. Just recently we have been updated on the 3DS version, but the Wii version has been on standby for two years and it seems like that version wont see the light of day. What are Kadokawa (Prope's publisher) doing?

They could release Wii title as it is in the eShop for digital release, or update the game for a WiiU retail release adding those 3DS controls to the Gamepad that they've taken their sweet time on. Still the console version should have the default flicking Wiimote controls, so you could play game as it was originally intended.

EDIT: Regarding other games... Nintendo could also release some of their Japanese Wii exclusives in the eShop. Would be nice to see Takt of Magic or Zangeki no Reginleiv!

The Last Story for the Wii U launch window probably would've fit in really well. That's what everyone is really complaining about ... they want that "epic" Nintendo title and it would've silenced a lot of the "Nintendo doesn't take chances with new IPs" if the "epic" game in their launch window was new IP.

I don't understand Nintendo's logic in releasing these games during the final days of the Wii.  Especially when they were having trouble with development resource for the Wii U.  Clearly besides Xenoblade, the 2 other games for Project Rainfall should have been re-made for the Wii U in order to alleviate the software drought the Wii U is having. Now hearing that Rodea is still alive and in development for the Wii, the title should be released on the Wii U instead and take advantage of the consoles more current technology.

If these games hadn't been released for the final days of the Wii, as you say, although it was a bit spread out as far as Pandora's Tower is concerned, the Wii would not have had any big anticipated titles really, in it's last year+, while people waited for Wii U to launch. Plus Wii U is the ONLY next gen console that is backwards compatible, thus you can buy and play even new Wii games for it on Wii U, out of the box. There's no problem there at all.

Would any of those games been "better" with better hardware? Sure. But you could say that about anything. Point is, Wii deserved those games.

I'm more interested in tales of graces.

Nintendo does own The Last Story. They funded and published it except in NA. As for Pandora's Tower, Nintendo co-developed it, or at least assisted with development, and they published it, again, everywhere but NA. That points to them owning it as well. If anything, they likely made an arrangement with XSeed to publish it in NA, or "allowed" them to.

But yeah, the others are completely third party, with Nintendo having no controler over their localization at all.
