MS gives games away for free (well, you could argue this, of course, as you have to pay for gold) but they are really giving it away for free. No additionals costs for gold-members, and they can keep playing the games without gold and without internet.

Then the question arises: How long can you operate the PS3 offline with ps+-membership? I mean you pay for ps+ - do you have to be online to play your games? Does it need to check every x days/hours so that you can play the ps+games?

i think you can play them offline as well. It has a timer for when it expires I believe.

I've been watching all these movies on Netflix and documentaries on Hulu for "FREE".

On the serious note, I want to try Crackdown 1, because 2 is dumb fun. I still play it.
Dead Rising, hmm never tried it but I know it has a big legion of followers.

MS charges more for Gold than Sony does for Plus. I don't think it would be too much to ask of MS to give more/newer games.

 

PS+ uses the PS3 internal clock or whatever. Whenever you reach the expiration date the service ends. So you don't need to be online at all as far as I know.

So technically you can be online for ps+, borrow your games, disconnect from internet and the ps3 itself will disable the game the day your subscription ends?

No, you misunderstood. Let's say you sign up for a month, as soon as you sign up the timer starts and when the month is up so is your service.

I had PS+ for a month and only got online with Vita to download the games, and never logged back on. I was still able to play the games, not once being required to log back in. On the last day of membership, a little message appeared on screen while I was playing Gravity Rush that said something like "you have xx numbers of minutes left" and after the time, I got booted off the game. No online is required for PS+

At least one time you have to be online :) What happens if you adjust your clock in PS3? ;)
