massive potential here!

I see MS coming out with this towards the middle/end of the Xbox One's lifecycle, similar to Kinect.

With well thought out implementation and decent marketing this can be massive.

I also feel though that certain parts of the demo felt off, but like others have said this is just a POC.

they should release holiday 2014. This would ramp up sales and get many devolopers on board early.

Too Early. Too Expensive.

By holiday 2014, Xbox One will be luckky to have a healthy install base. It is $500. You can't ask people to spend an extra $100-$200 on a projector.

Yes you are right but people who have the extra cash can cash in when it releases, people who can't afford it can wait until it drops. This is not going to stop them from buying a xbox one. They just have to save up for the other. Xbox One will be $400 by next year. People who bought in the first year are likely to grab this as well. They should just get production costs down, so people can buy in a year later.

This is a very interesting use of Kinect and right now the only reason why I would want one.

Well, I would not say he is right just an opinion.  There was nothing pointless about the presentation because its a proof of concept.  People seem to forget what that means.  Its an Ideal to show how something can be done not something that will be done.  It's directed to show different features but not complete features.  These are specific ideals the developers thought of and made into a proof of concept, that does not mean this is the totallity of how this tech can be applied or what would make actual commercial features if this get released.

As for the statement that if a game i doing body tracking you cannot use this feature, well duh.  What if you can do one or the other and the person using the device get to choose which feature he feels important or fun.  In other words this is just another extension of your gaming experience, not a replacement.

On the subject of just using the projector without the TV, the key here is that you do not get the extension of your peripheral vision, you just get a bigger display.  The tech is designed to extend your peripheral vision of the environment contained within the game.  this does not work if you just project the game bigger on the wall.  This is the reason why some people miss certain concepts because they do not think about what the presentation is trying to present.

Then he's right on his opinion, like many will have. That said, it's good to see them show this, like you say as proof. I think the idea of body tracking is a conflict of abilities, if a game requires Kinect tracking you can't use the Illumiroon feature. I liked the presentation even if I didn't think many of the features were good. Augmented reality part was fantasic, I've seen it done on TV on a larger scale but in this smaller setting it seems to fit, especially as it maps the surroundings.

On the projector, I was just wondering if it could be used as one, I don't know, so I asked. You have answered. The idea that the Kinect could be used as a replacement for a TV is one I like, especially as projectors aren't exactly cheap, even if it's not 1080p glorious HD. I could buy a a Xbone and have it away from the main TV without having to buy another TV for it to work on.

Hmm, pie.

Here is the problem and why he complained, it's not on PS4, that simple.

Seriously, get over it. I asked if the Kinect could be used as a projector, your answer wasn't helpful.

Next time I will try to be more helpful.

Interestingly still the same room setup as in the previous demos, pretty dark room too. The tv bit at the end is new, but that seems more distracting and doesn't line up very well (maybe because of the angle)

It's a great proof of concept but a long way of from working in every living room for a reasonable price. First of all projector prices have to come down drastically for projectors in the 3000 lumen range. With less it won't be able to compete with the ambient light while projecting on irregular non white surfaces.

They still haven't shown a setup with the projector on the coffee table as intended, or maybe they changed that? Seems a bit of a hassle to have to install it above the couch, but otherwise this would never work: For example, a grenade can roll out of the television, then bounce off the coffee table, and roll on the floor. All of these effects adapt to the color and geometry of any room.

I wonder if it will ever go beyond wowing people at trade shows.
