With a 34.6% obesity rate (tied for first) I don't think there would be many people in Stockton that would intimidate me and if they would I'm sure I could outrun a large majority of them.

Intimidate wouldn't be the right word, but when I was younger I found black people... strange. Mostly because they were so rare where I grew up. I had several friends of Asian descent, and school always took great pains to teach us aboriginal culture, so they didn't seem unusual either, but I found myself wanting to stare at the two token black kids in my school. It didn't help that they had a tough time fitting in and seemed a little more prone to mischief as a result.

Times change, and lots of the recent immigrants to my city come from Africa, and they're especially common around my workplace. I no longer find black people quite so alien.

I think that I've met 3 black guys in total, in my life thus far. 2 were priests in my hometown, and the 3rd one was a cute guy I've met in Italy. But I don't have any different opinion about black people than I have about any other ethnic group. People are people, what defines you as a person is not the colour of your skin.

But to be quite honest black people are very unusual here, and if one finds himself here... We kinda tend to stare at him/her... Which kinda makes people uncomfortable, but it's just harmless curiosity.

But from the people I've met on-line and are African Americans, I've found out that stereotypes (like always) don't stick.

as an African-American...no...but unfortunatley some people are; I've expirienced many people quickly crossing the street when I approach them a night or waiting for the next elevator when I was the only one in there -_-

They don´t intimidate me, but some of them are evil.  For example, last week some black guy stole my friend´s bike.
Here´s a picture i take of the incident. My friend is the one chasing the thief.

Not at all.
I owe them because their own ancestors sold them to the same people that bought my ancestors? I'm Irish I don't think so..
I would say a lot of that would come from not knowing any black people. I've known quite a few.

Funny thing happened to me once. I was helping out my neighbor who was black. He needed a ride to the VA to get his meds. His grandson wanted to go with us. On the way there, the little kid starts asking me why I drive a Honda when White people are all rich and own everything. His grandfather, literally jerked him out of the back seat and beat his butt for it. I wasn't offended by what he said at all but his grandfather was furious. Said I worked just like any black man did and I didn't get a free pass and it wasn't right of his son to pass such knowledge on to his kid because it was ignorant, racist, and a flat out lie. I don't think what the kid said was racist, just misinformed. Any way he was intimidated by Whites through false assumptions.

Fuck no, I'm comfortable with all ethnicities, I actually get along quite well with black people. There are people though, of any race that put out ill vibes and THAT shit makes me uncomfortable but not intimidated. If you are intimidated by any group of people, I guarantee that the rough necks of that group will pick up on that shit like a Wolf spotting a sick old Caribou. Best to work on your poker face Spurge before you get got LOL.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

A. You dont know what it is like where he lives. Obese people can use a gun too.To suggest being overwieght means not a threat is beyond ludicrous

B. You couldnt watch your property 24/7 either so dont act like you wouldnt conform to protect what is yours.

C. It's not your place to judge the world other people live in. Its easy to sit hundreds of miles away and act like a bad ass but I bet you'd be selling and moving if you were in his place.

I've never met a black person, but if I ever meet one, I doubt I'll feel intimidated. Though I actually sometimes think they're just better at everything, just like spurgeonryan said on his post, it's not really "intimidation".

I've never seen life as a contest where you're supposed to defeat other people.

You shouldn't.
But, if you're in the wrong part of town. I think you have some reason to worry.
I think we all know some places like that where you shouldn't come.

edit: I'm not saying only black people live there.
