Did anybody think all the memory was reserved for games ?

many were believing it was 7gb for games.

If this is about multitasking or background apps, I'm all for it. I do that--or want to do that--all the time.

If it's about that 15 minutes you can upload to the internet, it's massively disappointing. I could see Sony's OS burning a gig easily. I really couldn't see them using 3.5 GB. Microsoft does crap like that.

Likely, the reason is that Sony didn't want to offer too much more RAM than Microsoft because they thought it would be unused. As OS function, you know it's going to be used.

The other side of this is Microsoft is a software company that has been developing OSes since the 1980's.  Sony isn't.  With every console Sony is using a new OS to do something new.  There's no expertise built-up within Sony with their OS because it changes every time.

Because of Microsoft's experience and expertise, I think they're likely able to create a smaller, more efficient OS than Sony is.

You aren't seriously suggesting that Microsoft has a proven track record of stellar OS development, are you?  Sure, MS has been developing PC OSes since the 1980's, but by and large they have the dubious honor of producing the shittiest, most bug-ridden, performance and security challenged OSes in the history of computing.  DOS? Windows 3.1?, Windows ME?, Vista?  Really??  MacOS, Unix, and Linux have always been miles ahead of the Redmond Giant in when it comes to OS stability, security, performance, and functionality.

Let's not confuse "popular" with "high quality". MS OSes certainly win the popluarity contest but that doesn't mean much in terms of their quality. I'm sure "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" is quite popular too...

this means that everyone that laughed at the xbone using 3gb of memory has to eat a turd sandwhich

So if its bad news for the PS4 it is a rumor and most likely false, but if it is about the Xbox One then it is 100% true. I think I understand now. Looks like this gen will be like last gen. Multiplats are basically the same and only exclusives will provide a difference, and a minor one at that.

Better safe than sorry. Don't want a Wii U type situation to happen.

PS fans are gullible lol. The WiiU uses 1gb ram for its OS and you guys really expected that the big bad PS4 was similarly only going to use the same amount of RAM lol.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

IGN has picked it up:

So this is the BIG news? I thought it was going to be much worse.
