So its pretty obvious at this point Microsoft really wants you to talk to your TV.  As weird as this sounds its true, they have shown the voice recognition feature of the kinect as one of its biggest selling features.  I think that feature is the most prevalent feature of the kinect actually used in games.  On top of that they are not including a mic with the X1 and instead want you to talk through your kinect.  Personally I like my privacy, I don't want my family hearing my conversation because I have to talk louder through the kinect.  I already know people are gonna say I won't have to, think about it, if I'm sitting on my couch and my kinect and all the way across the room it will not be able to pick up my voice if I talk in a regular tone and especially with the sounds from the TV droning out my voice.  I think it is easier to simply press a button than say a phrase for my xbox to do an action.  What would you guys rather do?

Press a button. A little more convenient. If I'm playing at night I don't want to be yelling at my TV. Also what if you're just trying to talk to someone in your house...how would the Xbox know that you're not talking to it?

Imagine your playing and someone walks in and says "turn the xbox off."  The xbox will just hear xbox off and shut down lol.  Unless of course it has a feature that you can make it so it only recognizes your voice, which I don't think it does.

I imagine parents trolling their kids with that =P...and I would imagine my little brother trolling me with it...

NO BUY! lol

I already have Kinect for the 360 and both come in handy. I'll browse Netflix with the controller because the voice commands are too cumbersome. From that point on, it's just too convenient to talk to it.

They're not lazy. If you use the buttons on the Xbox controller rather than your voice, this will happen.

Buttons, buttons, buttons, forever buttons.

Now, that being said, voice backup isn't bad. I can start the thing up while I look for the remote and it would be fine for simple pausing. More complex actions, or anything requiring quick input, is best left to buttons.

How do you browse movies with voice commands? Kinect scroll down? lolz

How did the voice commands on phones work out?

Hmm, pie.
