Forums - Microsoft Discussion - How Microsoft showed it only cares about the US market

Well considering the fact that Japanese gamers outright refuse to even give the Xbox brand a chance being that it's not made by one of their own, and that European gamers can't pole jock Sony enough, why WOULDN'T M$ mainly focus its efforts on NA?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Good? I mean, we have the japanocentric nintendo and sony, western gamers need more than badly translated games to play.

Well that's their main market and probably the only one they still have a small chance of doing well next generation. They will lose the UK because of the very high price. And they aren't even launching in many markets around the world in the first year so Sony will dominate those as well.

You realize that Sony isn't launching in every market either.  In fact, Sony has stated definitively that if you buy a PS4 in an unsupported market, that the games will not work.  Once agian, it's the same limitation that the Xbox One has.

Oh really?! Wow, that's a terrible restriction for the PS4 but I'm sure though they will support all the major markets initially and launch in more countries than Xbox One.

Another problem for the Xbox One is that Xbox brand isn't that large outside NA and the UK especially compared to the PS brand. The 21 regions Xbox One is launching in are the one's where the Xbox brand is strong. In almost all the other regions (including most of the one's the Xbox 1 is launching in) the PS brand is larger and if the PS4 releases in those regions first then people won't even consider the Xbox One.

Yes, and yes they are planning on a bigger roll-out than Microsoft.

I'm not going to speculate on what or what won't happen in other markets.  I haven't actually analyzed them to comment.  I think it's fair to say that the PS4 will do better in most markets at launch simply because of the price.  It's a logical assumption, at least.

Yes, i will have to try again as you advice. Still, i want to take a moment and thank you for the intelligent contribution, as always.

On topic, Microsoft has much to gain if they were not so US oriented, and i'm not talking about the style of their presentation either, the Xbox One E3 conference was primarily aimed at the US costumers. Heck, more than half of the features of the console don't even function outside of the US.

And now you are off topic in your own thread,

answer this please, what does Sony not even showing up say about sony's approach to Australia?

it shows if they are going to do something, they arent going to do it half-assed

How is it half-assed if they did exactly what they came to do? Which was a presentation. They did exactly what they wanted to do
