Forums - Politics Discussion - Cop Fired for Speaking Out Against Ticket and Arrest Quotas

In this day and age if someone is breaking the law by speeding or reckless driving, video proof from the police should be a requirement. This would stop innocent people being ticketed and would honestly help fight bad cops.
I actually had some issues with local police who wanted to punish me for knowing how fast I was going and having a black person in my car did not constitute breaking the law allowing for them to pull me over and search my vehicle.

i thought it was pretty clear.. quotas aren't new in pd's and have been going on for a while...

Sorry, the use of eplipsis in your post implied something it didn't mean to.

And therein lies why the videocameras don't exist. The problem is, the "bad cops" are most of the cops, so you're not going to see them take action unless forced by legislators. And why would legislators do that? They want as many speed tickets, etc, as possible -  to increase revenues.

Federal law says quotas are illegal. State law might have discrepancies on how they enable a quota by calling it different things. Conservatively speaking, it is the state's right to make the call, n'est pas?

I'm not a fan of the whole "states rights" thing, but it generally refers to laws limiting freedom. Laws regarding government employees are tricky that way because more laws can mean a weaker state.
