Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Five Reasons Why Nintendo's Stock Is Surging

YEAH

Also Monster Hunter.

The trifecta of Monster Hunster 4, Pokemon X & Y and Link to the Past 2 will almost be too much for the japanese market to handle.

In short.....3DS

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Super Mario World 3D and Pokemon X & Y will assure Nintendo a great Black Friday and Christmas. I am not surprised by the stock surge.

It's up because of speculation about 1st quarter results. It has nothing to do with recent games. Buy now if you think they are going to exceed expectations, wait if you think they are going to miss them. Wii U has been dreadful, so I would guess they are going to miss them. The stock is trending downward the last 2 days. I sold mine on the upward swing and now I'm waiting to buy back in when it gets low. I would expect it to keep going down some more. Today it's at $16.59. I'd like to see it at least below 16.

Yes, Nintendo's Stock has been on the upward trend recently, but I checked my Stock App just now and it definitely is already going back down. Currently at 16.48 per stock. Down from TheLastStarFighter's post.

I'm not surprised, though. I knew this was a temporary thing. (Although, even in the negative it is still above their recent trend.)

also, coming off near record lows helps...

its basically flat YOY and massively down over longer terms.

It´s the highest stock in two years... how that can be flat YOY ?

You sure you got this from Forbes? Because it's surprisingly cogent.

One little quibble. While being Japanese might give Sony and Nintendo a geographic advantage, I think it gives them a larger political disadvantage. China has a territorial dispute with Japan, and it isn't afraid to tap a vast well of Chinese anti-Japan sentiment to advance its agenda. A Japanese game console could face widespread boycotts, even rioting and destruction:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_China_anti-Japanese_demonstrations

"During the protests against Japan, there have been calls of boycotts of Japanese goods in addition to the destruction of several existing Japanese products.[80][81] Many Japanese businesses and factories in China were shuttered in reaction to the protests.[82] Since 16 September, most Chinese group tours to Japan were cancelled,[83][84] which has dealt a great blow to the Japanese tourism industry since the earthquake and tsunami disaster in March 2011.[85] The Japanese car manufacturing industry has suffered a loss of $250 million between 15–21 September due to the production of about 14,000 cars being suspended.[86] The Guardian predicted a global slowdown of economy due to the protests.[87]"

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Black 3DS is going to sell crazy this month. I am getting one myself. Pokeymon X & Y is coming to the 3DS. Wii and the DS are still selling hardware. Wii U is about to get some quality games like Super Mario World 3D and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, I am not surprised.
