Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Q1 Earnings July 31st (Results Inside - Profit)

Unfortunately though I have a bad feeling something like The Wonderful 101 won't be profitable.

Gonna throw down a prediction of 100k Wii Us shipped.

you cant be serious?

3DS should offset the awful WiiU numbers, I think they'll post a profit.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Interesting. Possibly too conservative, though it depends on how much stock retailers like to keep. Assuming VGC numbers, that'd be about 220,000 left on shelves, give or take.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

If this is also a loss, they need to start bringing individual game costs down. Miyamoto said Wii U games cost twice as much to make - that's not acceptable if they don't sell more for that investment. Lower the graphical quality to Wii level.

LOL, things like NSMBU and even DKC: TF are pretty close to that ... they look like Wii games in 720p.

You can't water down graphics much further.

*looks around this Nintendo based thread* Yups the typica Nintendo haters are once again here!!! Can't have a Nintendo thread here at VGC without Nintendo hater's usual spiteful comments. Sigh!!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that because of AC, and Luigi's Mansion, they'll be in profit. Also, Wii U will have shipped 300k.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Why not? Using the numbers we have here its a perfectly reasonable prediction considering they STILL havent gone through the last shipment.

They shipped ~3.45 Million as of April 1st

They sold 3.3 Million as of July 13th.

They sold ~3.2 Million as of July 1st.

Retailers will only order what they can sell. They wont order another 300k Wii U systems.

How about addressing his post instead of resorting to the usual hater mentality?

*thinks for a sec* Nah...it's pointless to argue with typical Nintendo haters on this site. Especially ones that have been going into threads just to demoralize Nintendo fans for some odd trip/high!!! Besides I don't want to get dizzy with all spin the haters are gonna pretend to show that they are not bias! When clearly they are; and they have gotten very good at that doing spins (see ethomaz for example as he is one of the best spinners on the site)!!! Besides this guys history along with that comment alone shows how spiteful he is toward Nintendo!!!

I'll just say to the earlier discussion in this thread that myself and Soleron were having (which the above poster completely misses the point on) is about development costs and how it relates to Nintendo's financials.

I don't think you can cut development costs much further on some of these projects, below is DKC: TF and DKCR on the Wii running in 720p (Dolphin resolution):

Versus

But as usual someone sees what they percieve as a "negative comment" and zero in on that like a hawk, completely missing the context of the entire conversation. And yes I've not only seen DKC: TF in motion, I played it twice at E3 in person, and it is my second most anticipated Wii U game. But it definitely does look like a Wii game running HD a lot of the time. David Wise being back for the soundtrack makes it a must buy for me alone.

That said I think DKC: TF is probably being rushed for the holidays and started off devleopment on the original Wii. Clearly though Pikmin 3 looks much better than Pikmin 2, for instance, so it's not a hardware issue, in this case I think it's simply a time issue. As long as DKC: TF plays great (and hopefully sounds great too), I don't mind, but it does seem like Nintendo allowing certain projects to really push the Wii U hardware (X for instance) while other games are more judicious in their asset/budget range.
