Forums - Gaming Discussion - One reason why DIgital is better than Physical.

Do you buy Digital or physical

Digital 19 17.59%

Physical 83 76.85%

I don't have an opinion ... 6 5.56%

Total:108

I'm all about the physical copy. I like having the feeling of ownership and something to look at. I buy digital every once in awhile, but it's mostly smaller games.

Physical only on Consoles/portables because the companies are vague on b/c or just outright not supportive on the b/c and/or the situation if a person gets their system lost (i.e. Nintendo).

Digital on PCs because even if your PC breaks down, you can just re-install the game after installing steam.

I'm not a pc gamer, but if I was digital would make more sense. I agree with your post.

if i were rich i would buy digital. physical is cheaper. way cheaper.

consoles of coarse.

What if you have an HD failure in the future? What if you console is hacked? What if your console's network is hacked? What if you want to play games when you're old and your console is broken? No redownload of games, no way to use your account on a new console. Physical games can last a lifetime if you store them the right way(games stored in optical media, since with cartridges you don't need to be any careful at all) and they have three thing that digital doesn't and probably never will: real manuals, a box and the feeling of the ownership. Those's are the greatest reasons to buy a physical copy of a game. Seriously, what's the difference between buying a digital game and downloading a game ilegally? Absolutely none, except the fact that one you have to pay for and the other you don't. Digital isn't the future, it's just a better way for big companies to make more money by giving you less.

Do you mean in terms of hardware or the software themselves?

Console software

Lent a bunch of games to my nephew, and not that much later his PS3 and all the games he had were stolen. So that was good buy to a few much loved games, including Valkyria Chronicles. "Fortunately" PSN got hacked not long after and we got inFamous digitally for free as a result. And my friend bought Valkyria Chronicles on my recommendation, but doesn't like anime art style so couldn't get into the game, so he gave it to me.

and then when the generation ends and the services are shut down how do you intend to redownload your games if you purchase more than your storage capacity? or when your console fails.

PS4 plays PSN / PS3 (digital) games , but not PS3 (disk) games.

Digital is more future proof than physical.

it doesnt, PS4. PSN games are still PS3 games. they run on the PS3 hardware. the only thing different from digital and physical in terms of playing the game is how you bought them. any PS3 PSN games wont run on PS4. its like saying PSP games will automatically run on PS4 without any emulation.
