Forums - Sony Discussion - God Eater 2 Overtakes Monster Hunter 4 on Amazon Japan’s Best Sellers, Did The Vita Find its Killer Application?

As others have said, God Eater 2 should do very well, though certainly not on Monster Hunter's level. It's a franchise with an identity and one that hits a lot of the switches the Japanese like--hunting, anime-type characters, and pretty girls with strange outfits. Personally, I'm much more interested in God Eater than MonHon, which has never appealed to me very much.

I think the sales numbers will be good enough to make Capcom regret not having a Vita Monster Hunter title.

I don't know that much about MH and Japanese gamers but considering MH sales on Wii U(and almost no boost for Wii U s hardware ales) the Monster Hunter Brand may be milked way too much =it really may be that god eater2 could compete in sales numbers until a certain leven ,not because of great sales numbers but only because MH has already passed the zenith of success and is going down.

lol, MH on WiiU is a port and its also available at the same time on 3ds. MH4 will be so massive in japan. It only looks like its going down cuz no new MH been out for awhile. And now that i think about it, MH for 3ds is the third highest selling game in the franchise and thats a port!!!! Imagine wat MH4 will do, First Week Sales are going to be at least 1mil

monster hunter is really more of the same, Gods Eater has a bit of story and characters and an interesting universe, but it also is very cliche.

because of this MH is going to outsell it by a lot, because the casual gamer doesn't care about backstory and characters and just want to pick up the game and play.

why would capcom regret not having MH4 on Vita? Its going to sell massive on 3DS, i mean 3ds didn't even have a huge userbase when MH Tri came out and its now almost 2mil sales and thats a port! Capcom went With 3DS cuz with it they can at least do 3.5mil sales vs Vita which could do maybe 1.5mil! But then again It would be smarter to have it on both handhelds? Oh welllllll

MH3U was a launch title for the Wii U in Japan and a port of the 3DS game which was about 1/2 a year old at that point which was an upgraded port of MHTri. Monster Hunter is also more of a portable series whereas its sucess on consoles is severely lacking

Because by not having a Vita version, they're allowing other hunter games to build fanbases and market share.  Now if MonHon does got back to the Vita, it's possible that it might have lost customers to God Eater or Toukiden.  Sales are sales.  Because you sell 1M on one system doesn't mean 250k on another system is something to sneeze at.

true, but do we know if it would be better if it was release on Vita? I mean it could be a nintendo deal and they get more sales on 3ds cuz hardcore MH fans will buy a 3ds for it vs the ones that left them for God Eater or Toukiden! Its hard 2 tell, wat you said is true though, It would of been smarter to release on both handhelds. Will MH come back to Vita? Thats the Question, I kno a GTA+COD will come for sure

MH3 was sold out and has been available for pre-order for several weeks now while God Eater 2 only just opened pre-orders.

All in all, it means absolutely nothing at this point.

Now if can stay high on the pre-order sales charts, then congratulations to Namco Bandai. But you can't really draw any conclusions on a game that just opened pre-orders against another game that has been on the pre-order list for weeks and is also sold out.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

If a game that has been conquering the Japanese Pre-Order charts since it's been available for pre-order looses to a game one day because it runs out of stock means that that game that gained the #1 position will be on the level of MonHun, then I don't really know what to say anymore. Other than all of that.

I'm sure God Eater 2 will do at least alright. After all, any PSV game that is even slightly lighting up the Pre-Order charts means a good thing. Will it be MonHun level? No way ever. Will it be good for the Vita? Yes, quite so.

Will it make Capcom wish they put MonHun on the Vita? I doubt it.

I agree. If the vita version can get to 350-400k, it will be clear that a monhun port would be lucrative.
