Forums - Movies & TV - I just watched the Man of Steel. I have no idea why reviews are so mediocre.

So, I heard a lot of people on the internet complaining how Man of Steel has a serious pacing problem, and Zack Snyder's directing is average. Hell, it has a pretty disappointing average score on Rotten Tomatoes/Metacritic.

What I just saw was one of the best super-hero movies I ever watched. I honestly saw no pacing problem, actually I thought they handled Clark's childhood and stuff really well. And the action scenes are TOP. NOTCH.

But then again, I think I'm not picky when watching movies, and don't try to look for flaws or plot holes and stuff. I REALLY enjoyed Iron Man 3 and Law Abiding Citizen for example. Judge me.

Man people had their expectations set WAY too high. I mean they complained that there was too much action! I love the action it was incredible. It was on a whole new level. Fast paced and epic. I don't care what reviewers say this film was awesome.

fuck those reviews hard with a sand paper. thats all I have to say. Man of Steel is awesome!

maybe people just dont like superman as much anymore

Who the hell complains that the movie has "too much action"? Superman Returns biggest flaw was the lack of action.

I'm still impressed by the action sequences.

My only theory is that people were expecting something "realistic" and "gritty" like The Dark Knight trilogy. Which is an insane thing to expect from a Superman movie.

And by the way, the pacing of the TDK trilogy is pretty similar to Man of Steel, imo. ESPECIALLY The Dark Knight Rises. I honestly have no idea what's up with these "pacing problems" complaints.

I loved the movie, but I think they might've gone overboard with the last fightscene with Zod. The fight itself was one of the best I've ever scene, but the amount of destruction going on around the city was beyond dumb (I think it stood out because they did such a good job at establishing the world this takes place in, so seeing all that destruction was a bit shocking). I hope they at least address it in Man of Steel 2.

I was pretty impressed by the immense destruction going around, but it's a Superman movie where the villain is Zod. I was expecting (and anticipating) it really, like in The Avengers. I spent the entire movie just waiting for the insane action, and I got it.

And I forgot to comment how great were Michael Shannon and Russel Crowe's performances. Henry Cavill was pretty good too.

The awkward unnatural dialogue, inconsistent pacing and plot developments that make no logical sense. I say the reviews are higher than it deserves to be honest.

It's 2 hours of declamations and shit blowing up. That does not make for a good comic book movie let alone a good movie in general. Maybe we're just harder to impress over here, because the majority of people in the theatre just walked out grunting about how mediocre it was.

Good movie, but my main complaint is that, in many ways, Supes was darker and more depressed than even Batman was. He's supposed to be the optimistic one.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
