I apologize if there is already a forum topic for this, but as a long Gojira/ Godzilla fan, I am so stoked for the new film by Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures that I just have to talk about it.

Godzilla, as a whole, was a huge part of my childhood, and it's so awesome to see Hollywood get another crack at the King of the Monsters after that 1998 travesty. So logically, I've been following the hell out of it.

Is anyone else as excited as I am? If enough people visit here, let's use this forum to keep an up to date track on the film.

Filming has supposedly been completed, with a big reveal at SDCC on July 20th. The movie is slated to release on May 16th 2014.

Sorry guys, I don't know how to post gifs directly, but here's a link:  http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/26391

I personally think the new design is amazing. Not too far off from what we know and love, but still fresh and completely badass.

UPDATE: Godzilla 2014 film director, Gareth Edwards, recently stated that there could be a Destroy All Monsters sequel to this film if all goes well. What do you guys think?

Yeah bro, there's a viral website from Lengendary up, and the big reveal for the new design is set to be revealed tomorrow at SDCC!

I guess I should rephrase my statement to be a little more fair. As a disaster movie on it's own, the 1998 film wasn't terrible. The reason why myself and many hard core godzilla fans consider it to be a travesty is because we feel it wasn't deserving of the Godzilla names. The monster was destructive, but more accidental than intentional. It ran away from every fight, wasn't invincible to mankind's weapons, and couldn't even do the signature Godzilla firebreath (though the animated series one that followed the movie could). Godzilla is a representation of mankind's destructive tendencies backfiring on them. Godzilla is the king of all monsters that rises from the ocean to either destroy mankind or another monster. Sadly, Godzilla 1998 just didn't represent that... Just my honest opinion.

Either way, the new sounds great!

The 1998 godzilla movie was horrible. Try watching it a second time and tell if it is as good as the first time(Not that it was good the first time)

Also yes! I am very excited. It is like my childhood dream come true I love this monster. We need more giant monster movies! Cloverfield was a very much needed film. Hoping Godzilla cause more giant monster films to be made

As a lifelong Godzilla fan, since childhood, what I REALLY want, is for Toho to get off their lazy asses and make a new actual Godzilla film themselves. They said they were going to take a ten year break. It's been ten years. And it seems they are personally not even doing anything for the 60th anniversary, which kind of pisses me off.

As for this American film....well, let's just say I got burned on the last one. I hope it's decent, but I'm not going to hold my breath. So we'll see.

im hyped, remember watching Godzilla as a little kid

hell yeah, im one of the few who loved the '98 version. Hope its as good as pacific rim that film was awesome.

when i was real young, i stayed up all night, for the all night marathons of old godzilla movies. i never liked mothra, a moth? they havent shown them in years here on tv. i would not mind checking this out once it comes out. it looks like a cool way to bring in a trailer with the app and tracking of godzilla, thats different.

i'm hyped lol
