I think it's the opposite. It generated a lot of good buzz especially in the developers community.

With ease of porting from PC to Xbox and the possibility of devs tapping into three big markets(X360/1, Mobile, PC) at once is great. There'll be more possibilities of exclusives/ports, mainly from Japanese devs that are wary of lack of market just on Xbox.

I'm in complete agreement with you. That being said, it only takes one look at the forums to see people freaking over losing exclusives to the PC. They should use this event to stop the negativity from spreading. This is perfect timing.

Note: The XBO/W10 does not include Windows Mobile/360 for the new ease of porting.

Did they announce it?

Not yet, but when commenting resistance, they said they were busy over sunset not only the dlc, but also new ideas for the sequel. 
He said (Sunset director) that starting next week more people will start working on it.. More or less confirmed.

Last but not least, Drew Murray was questioned about what is coming next for the Sunset Overdrive series. While he did not outright confirm Sunset Overdrive 2, he did reveal that his team will be finishing the development of the DLC for the first game on Friday.

He has also been talking with Marcus Smith, creative director of the original project, about new ideas about what they will be doing next. More people are being brought in on the new project the following Monday.

A Sunset Sequel? I'll believe it when I see it; don't wanna get over-excited before anything actually comes from it. But this is good news!

The original was a great game, with a lot of great ideas. Hopefully the sequel can build on that and turn it into a true classic. More R&C -> R&C2 than Spyro -> Spyro 2

I didn't pay too much attention to Tomb Raider when it came out but now that MS gave it away with GWG I'm surprised by how good it is. I wasn't too sure about that game after my friend told me TO and TB were alike but even though both are linear they play differently. I look foward to the next installment later this year.
