They both may free up space over time but to have a good OS they will need that memory.  People has been making too big of a deal out of RAM lately. None of this is really surprising news though since developers have been saying they arent seeing differences between the two consoles so far except for cloud enabled features that is freeing up things such as AI.

Didn't we hear ubisoft prasing the PS4 over the Xbone only a few weeks ago? :P I think the OS situation is misleading. 3GB for an OS is not right.

That is what I have been saying basically.  They have both been getting praised.  The only people making this out to be other wise is fans.

Good job everybody. The Xbox Userbase alone may be small in comparison to Nintendo and Sony but we have proven that we have a community too on this website.

4.5GB for the PS4 or 5GB for the Xbox One is way okay for games anyway :) And frankly; as I said in another thread; I HATE when I push my Xbox Guide button and it almost freeze my console just to show up my friend list... Now I think the overall Xbox One experience will be very smooth (same for the PS4).

OT: I agree with Endimion; PS fans bashing the Xbox and coming back with stupid comment like "one dev from Ubisoft said it PS4 is better than Xbox One" is okay; I mean what else to expect from a fan, right; I would do the same

What is annoying is more the people bashing Kinect or Xbox Live; just because "they" do not see any value in these.

I'm honestly surprised how civil things have been on these boards in regards to the RAM situation. I guess maybe I'm too new here yet but I expected a war to break out on these forums. Both sides have actually been rather tame and mature with only a couple people taking some jabs. I'm impressed.

I myself have been vocal about the Kinect but not because I think it's a bad device. My criticism comes from my not liking how Microsoft is making people who want the Xbox One pay that much extra for a device that is going to have almost no gaming support at the start. Don't get me wrong, I fully expect Microsoft to do everything they can to push that device and it certainly has a lot of potential. I just think it's crappy to go, "The only way to get in on this ride at launch is to pay us $100 extra but we really don't have much to justify that so you're just gonna have to wait". I personally think they should have held off and bundled that thing later.

I see no problem with the cap on the RAM if the OS needs it then so be it. The last thing I want is another XMB style home screen. ( Laggy, hard to find stuff, etc....)

I just put down another $200 on my Xbox One today and preordered COD:Ghosts. I only owe $200 more on that bad boy. I'll also be picking up either Forza 5 or DR3 at launch and downloading Killer Instinct the second I hook the console up. I'll have to wait to pick up BF4 at Christmas time along with maybe 1 other game. I really want to play Ryse pretty badly but the QTE thing has me a little worried. I don't mind QTE's but I don't want one after every kill. I'll wait for reviews and if they aren't so hot then I'll pick it up next year for $20.

This is the way I feel.  I hated the OS on PS3.  Im really happy they are investing in a better OS since i felt it was the PS3's weakest asset.
