Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Prepare for bad numbers in NPD guys. Nintendo did Earthbound today and a mini direct for a reason.

Similar to the Jan direct, I think the direct and the Earthbound release is trying to appease the current WiiU owners and kinda try to mask the terribad NPD numbers.

I am expecting the worst.

for a reason, yes. They are tired to stay in last position.

No need to worry, Wii U is currently the best selling 8th gen home console.

It strikes me as a reminder of how Nintendo is putting its full weight behind the second half of 2013. For both systems.

Nintendo doesn't care about VGChartz. Even if the Wii U numbers are awful (and I'm sure they are), that doesn't mean they're overtracked here, which means it won't be a "bad" NPD from our perspective.

Don't we already know that the Wii U numbers will be bad? 3DS should be good though thanks to New Leaf and other previous releases.

We? Maybe. VGChartz is generally considered a joke outside of here with their numbers instantly disregarded, though, so you could argue no one else does.

These numbers don't make a damn bit of difference though, the Wii U isn't even a million under the 360/PS3 aligned yet, it's all about the end of the year.

Hilarious you even made that connection though OP.

Both systems? Wii U without a doubt but the 3DS had an awesome 1st half line-up.

Obviously sales-wise with Pokemon though, you are correct.
