Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are Pikmin 3 FW sales proof enough for you that the Wii U is not doomed?

It still isnt enough, but things will get better as more exclusives release.

I'm gonna be honest. Looking at next year's line-up the Wii U seems like a more atractive purchase than a PS4 (not even gonna bother mentioning Xbox one cause thats completely ruled out). This cause i dont see FFXV beeing released on the first year in the west and KH3 will take even longer.

So, as far as im concerned i do see a rosy future for the Wii U for this holiday and next year. After that we shall see. A price cut will definitly help this fall.

I don´t know man, I think the WiiU is a bad deal in comparition with the PS4, here in Brazil, at least. Here a external Hard Drive with power suply cost a lot of money, like at least 150 dollars for a 500GB HD. That said, a WiiU would cost, here, around 350+150 = 500 (plus taxes, which are 60%). The PS4 is 400 dollars (plus 60% taxes) with a lot more to offer, like: - way more power (bigger, prettier and better games), built in HD, which is very convenient, the free psn plus games (which are usually amazing) and a bluray drive.

The WiiU will do fine, but, a better option? I don´t see it. To Nintendo fans? Of course, no doubt about it, but to the general public, I really don´t think so.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

First of all though, you dont need to get a HDD unless you want to get your games digitally. Contrary from popular belief, that is something only the hardcore are interested in.

I dont need a 500GB Hd to enjoy my games on the Wii U. Thats where your reasoning falters.

Nope. Sales are going to drop like a rock to be hoest.

Sorry, nice try, but Spurgeonryan is still the hoest

Pikmin 3 sold about what I expected but didn't push as many systems as I had hoped.

Wii U will be fine, but I don't expect it to dominate anything. People saying it will be lucky to reach GC sales are kidding themselves.

Oh dude, you got me all wrong, I am as hadcore as it gets. My PS3 has a 750gb HD, which is awesome to enjoy the free plus games and discounts, I just bought the Lego Pirates and Batman 2 games for 5 dollars each, here in Brazil they cost 50 dollars each at retail.

As I said, Nintendo is very cool and it will be fine. althought, to the general gamer, the money will go to the better deal. Believe me, i am not a fanboy, I thought about buying a WiiU a lot of times, I love new consoles, but, to me is not appealing yet.

It proves that Wii U will sell if it has good games. Based on the "one good game a month" release schedule from here on out, it should do well. Nintendo's already dominating with 3DS. To dominate with Wii U it will take something more, probably a unique New title

I just think you're assuming much. You are thinking the general consumer cares about having a really big HDD and is willing to pay extra for it. I dont think that is the case.

I can buy all sorts of games on the cheap on amazon aswell. I dont need to pay a lifetime ps plus sub to do it. Also online play is free on the Wii U while its paid on the PS4. That is another piece of monetary motivation you are underestimating.

The Wii U will be cheaper and have more must-have titles next year. Of course, that can change the following year but with the current information that is the case.

I will remind you that Microsoft also assumes consumer will want the more expensive Xbox one because of the kinect. As someone said, assumption is the mother of all f*** ups.

22 000 week 1 is relatively impressive, but week 2 is the decider

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Good point, the free online IS a great advantage. Althought, the discounted games from plus are mine forever, I only lose the free games if I get out of the service, I got out for 1 month a little while ago and all my cheap discounted games worked just fine. The free games are back online now that I renewed my subscription.

If you have no hate for Sony, plus is amazing, if you hate them, then, of course, stay the hell away, your happiness comes first for me.

The WiiU is a good system and it will sell ok, but I am pretty sure it will not win this next gen because what the PS4 and the Xbox One can offer is very impressive.

Also, as I said: Did you see the GTA5 and MGS5 trailers? These kind of games are what make me love gaming, all out, hardcore gaming greatness. The WiiU cannot afford to lose these kind of experiences.
