Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are Pikmin 3 FW sales proof enough for you that the Wii U is not doomed?

going from 5k wiiU sales a week to 22 thousand is pretty incredible. Especially considering that pikmin 3 had only been out for 2 days.

I've never doubted that once the fall/holiday season is upon us and there's finally a sizeable collection of quality games available that Wii U will go back to healthy sales.

Maybe, starting to feel like the 3DS formula all over again. What lead to the strong sells of Pikmin 3 was the massive marketing in Japan, along with Luigi U. If they do the same and continue this formula all the way through the Holidays, expect a good chances of strong sells.

I bet you have one game particularly in mind.

Smash.

While that's my most wanted game for the Wii U. It's not the one I have in mind for this particular situation, it's the collection of games coming out from October to December I was referring to.

Proves that it can do so well as GC, or the proportional in game market.
In total sales can pass N64.

It doesn't prove anything, really. 22k is still really low and its unlikely to maintain even that level of sales. The game itself is also unlikely to have legs as it isn't a very popular IP and the install base is too low to support it.

We've seen it with Vita. It gets a semi-big game once in a while and it gets a nice boost only to drop back down to "normal" a few weeks later. What's the next biggest Wii U release that can actually make any sort of difference?

No, not even a little. Even the GC had OK sales once in a while

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

Sales increase from 8k to 20k. Wooow. Maybe Wii U can hope to reach Gamecube sales after all. Good thing it has an incredibly diverse lineup going for it to keep the momentum going.

@VGKing Pikmin will definitely have legs and is fairly popular, unless you consider 500k not very popular.

There are a bunch of games coming out starting in august for NA, idk about Japan, but if one niche game can increase sales by 250% in only 2 days.  Imagine what the ridiculous lineup this fall and winter will do.
