"The generally wretched performance of the 3DS, Vita, and Wii U"
The 3DS is placed in same category of performance as Vita and Wii U? I am then curious what the threshold for performing well is at this point.

Welp. PS4 is going to win this generation pretty much by default it looks like.
If they fall too far behind Sony, I can see MS hitting the panic button and sending out Kinect-less SKUs.
MS sells the Kinect One SDK with two (2) Kinect One + SDK tools at $399.
No way it cost way more than $150... this dev is telling bullshit.
I think the Kinect One for Windows will be sold at $250-300 in retail in 2014.
To include such a hefty burden into the price tag....oh I wonder wonder wonder why kinect 2 is so integral to their strategy, rather than just another kinect 1. I'm sure at least a few people will have no idea.

serious question- have we seen any non casual games using the kinetic 2.0 in a way which the first kinect was unable? or.. Come to think of it, is there any info on how this version of kinect is better? I'm not being facetious, genuinely want to know. |
Yes, they really need to explain the value of this new kinect. The Wii U hasn't managed to do this with the gamepad so they are selling only on the first party they produce (and if MS have to do that, they will do even worse).
PSN: Osc89
NNID: Oscar89
this proves M$ do have a last resort to safe XBO if it really don't sell as good as they expect... good news for those Kinect haters XB fans can wait for a non-Kinect2 XBO SKU that will be much cheaper than PS4 in future...
*well ofcourse you gotta pay extra for the NSA access to your Kinect!
*might be true but still don't care

Your not paying double the price if kinect wasn't included it woulnd't be 250 for the one.
But it would just be a 'gussied up' Xbox 360 with out the new Kinect 2.0
I’m just waiting for them to announcing some new games, and amazing updates with the new X1.
An the person that says that Microsoft would make $100 per unit on the original Kinect 1.0 really doesn’t understand retail. For a standard model, they might have started with making $19 per unit – but remember they have Billions (with a B) in research to pay for by it.
IMO it would kill the Xbox One to drop Kinect. I don’t think they will do it.

The RGB camera has better resolution now and can now see in darkness thanks to infrared.
But for games, it's mainly the depth sensor that's being used. The depth sensor will probably see a resolution increase as well (Kinect on Xbox 360 used a depth sensor resolution of just 320x240 pixels), but as far as I know, Microsoft has so far not provided concrete details on the resolution improvement of this particular sensor.
All in all one can say: Kinect 2 hardware is hardly more than improved Kinect 1 hardware. The accuracy and picture quality will be somewhat better, but it won't allow for any really new experiences that just wouldn't have been possible with Kinect 1 hardware.
