Forums - Microsoft Discussion - All I want to do is sign into my account and play some games

Like NintendoPie said, you can just create an email but that seems like a huge hassle. I only have the same login that I've had for six years, now. Never had a problem. Sorry you're going through this.

No, it's the principle of the situation that's annoying me, I just want to play games on my account why is it so difficult to do? They claim it's for security purpose but as a test, I tried signing into my brother's account who had his on auto sign-in and it signed in no questions asked.

Great security there buddy!!

Even if I did make a second email address, the idea of signing in, waiting for confirmation code, entering said code just so I can play a game for 1/2hr is not worth the affair, it's stupid.

I don't want to be auto signed in, nor do I want to enter bloody codes, what's wrong with the happy medium?!

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I have no disagreement with you on the fact that it's ridiculous. But, dems da breaks. It's not like telling your 360 (if that's what you are (not) playing on) that it's Online function is being crazily stupid and that it needs to straighten itself out will help. If what you've tried hasn't worked, there's not much else you could do. It's annoying and sad, but it's true.

All the more reason I say sod this system, I'm going back to playing on Dungeons of Dredmor, at least there they don't ask for a stool and blood sample ¬_¬

It's for extra security precautions. This happened awhile ago...Once you do it once, then you don't have to do it again.

Proof requirements

Xbox LIVE will require that you have two proofs on your account, and at least one must be a phone number or email address. We recommend one phone and one email proof to provide the best security options for your account.

Why are so many proofs required?

Often people change or stop using a particular phone number or e-mail address. By having two proofs, you are more likely to have access to at least one of these accounts and thereby reduce the chances of being locked out of your account for even a short time period.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

I had this sometime ago it is a security measure to ensure that you are the actual account owner. In my case I gave them my phone# and they texted a code which you'll have to enter to confirm.

hmm i remember that i got such a question when i tried to log in my xbox account on my pc some months ago. they send me a code to my e-mail address which i already use since 2005 for my xbox account and i had to use this to get access to the account on my pc. so no clue why you have to have a new e-mail now and can't use your old one.

steam has something similar with the steam guard. if you want to log in with a device you never logged in before they will send you a code to your e-mail account or something like that.

and if you use this code they ask you if this device shouldn't get this security procedure in the future or if you want this also the next times.

well, something like that, that's probably not 100% how it works.

I can understand if I was signing in with something I've never used before, but I use this particular 360 all the time. No idea why it's suddenly refusing.

I had the same thing. It took 5 mins to do it and it never asked again. It stops anyone using your account on xbox.com without a text verification code as well.
