Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is The Last of Us another case of undertracked PS3 exclusive?

I think the 3.4 was shipped. Either way, does it really matter? the game sold very well and has received immense critical acclaim, is that not enough? it's just a number.

I think TLOU might sell even more than Uncharted 3.

Really? Really? I don't see this happening, but I've been wrong before.

Those are very general comments......

I would consider myself an ms fan......blah

Also for the Nintendo fan, a lot of people don't realize how good XenoBlade Chronicles is.

That was entirely the point, since when have console arguments been original / stray from the stereotypical?

That's true, I was just adding that you can't generalize it by fanbase, it's a whole level more complex.

Not all publishers are like that, or at least Nintendoisn't LOL. Maybe Nintendo games just sell so well, the difference between 32 million mario karts sold, and 33 million shipped is negligable. Maybe Sony just give shipped figures early where Nintendo only talk about units sold later.

I also think MS is like that too.

Nintendo and MS report shipped. This has been discussed to death.

I don't think so, I know for sure when Nintendo references hardware sales, they refer to units sold (as in their consolidated sales figures - http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/library/historical_data/pdf/consolidated_sales_e1303.pdf ). It's been a while since I've seen them quote software sales, but I do remember Nintendo sales data matching VGC units sold data.

As for Halo, I remember MS announcing when it sold over 8 million, and it did sell over 8 million at that point, not ship it.

The Last of Us is now the number 1 selling console game this year on a single platform.

It will be overtaken by GTA, Gran Turismo and COD.

That figure Sony announced was shipped + digital up to that point. It said so in the not-so-small print.
So I'd say VgChartz data isn't very far off.

This game will have legs. It will have a nice holiday boost. I'd say The Last of Us has a chance to outsell Gran Turismo, at least this year.

It definetely could if Gran Turismo 6 sales are affected by the PS4's launch but TLOU would have to sell more than 5 million by the end of the year.

I'd say its possible. GT sales aren't that great in the US anyways so its possible that  GT6 would sell less than GT5 did in its first year. LIke you said next-gen console launches will probably have an effect.
