??

Sony is know to announced shipped numbers, and never the actualy number of units sold. Others may do it too, but Sony is known most for it.

Anyway UC3 is undertracked, I'm not arguing it

FYI- whn a publisher talks about number of units sold, they are ALWAYS refering to units shipped! Regardless of the publisher.   To a publisher, units shipped = units sold.  Why is it so hard for people to understand that?

Not all publishers are like that, or at least Nintendoisn't LOL. Maybe Nintendo games just sell so well, the difference between 32 million mario karts sold, and 33 million shipped is negligable. Maybe Sony just give shipped figures early where Nintendo only talk about units sold later.

I also think MS is like that too.

Nintendo and MS report shipped. This has been discussed to death.

Stop this nonsense. Sony is the only company that gets sold confused with shipped. There is no undertracking, if anything, Sony is overtracking.

And nobody buys digital copies, unless they are on sale.

Wait a second, are you implying that Sony ships 3M but tells people they shipped more?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

How come GT5 is about at the same number on both VGChartz and Sony's official numbers? I think VGChartz reports shipped numbers if they have it. Another example is AC3:Liberation.

Same number?

Sony: 10.66 at end of March 2013
VGC: 10.45 at end of June 2013

There is a bigger difference here.

If you are comparing VGC's numbers to Sony's numbers, then you are doing something wrong.

As clearly stated throughout this thread Sony gives you the shipped numbers, VGC gives you the sold retail numbers. Another factor is downloaded titles. VGC can not track those, so many modern games will be off by some.

VGC's predicted tracked units doesn't seem all that far off.

God of War III is one that they really need to update! Sony released actual numbers for each game in the series, which, if I remember correctly, had God of War III at almost 5.2 million. That was over a year ago. So, with the release of Ascension, it would be interesting to see where the numbers would be now? I wonder if it'll manage over 6 million lifetime?

Wait for NPD.

Ok, i will bite. I'm curious, what price did you see The Last of Us for?

I ask because i actually pre-ordered it through the US PStore and i paid U$60 for it. So yeah, i am wondering where you got that from.

And to foodfather @bold, literally every company reports shipped as sold in financial statements as The Last of Us sales report. No exceptions. Really. They ALL do. So i suggest you stop making yourself look like an uniformed fool that will say anything to make Sony look bad (read: agenda). People like you are not very liked at all (quite the opposite, really).

in the UK its pretty cheap, £39:99, when they are sometimes priced up at £54 and £49.....so for a new game i thought £39 was very reasonable as it was £40 in Tesco where i normally buy my games from, maybe thats just the Uk though!
