Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U's main graphical disadvantage is the lack of a studio like Naughty Dog or Santa Monica

*gasp* How on earth could you forget about High Voltage Software?!?!?! :b

Around the Network

mario kart 8 graphics are awesome at 1080p 60 fps

and mario kart games never take full advantage of the hardware imagine what we will see in the future.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Mario Kart 8 is 720p.

Having actually been at E3, Bayonetta 2 is fairly good looking as well, probably better looking than Mario Kart to be honest. From the trailer X looks like it's better than anything else though.

Mario 3D World looks better in motion than people think, but it is basically a very souped up version of 3D Land, not the Galaxy killer everyone wanted.

DKC: TF looks like a game that started on the Wii.

Graphically I'd say

X > Bayonetta 2 > Mario Kart 8 > Mario 3D World > DKC: Tropical Freeze

Lol, good times on these here forums. The conduit was supposed to be some kinda god-savior, and frankly, I expected a lot from it too.

Nintendo had Rare and Factor 5 prior, now they have Retro and Monolith Soft, not to mention several EAD teams - Mario Galaxy 2, anyone?

Their shortcomings in art direction and gameplay aside, High Voltage did push the Wii harder than almost any other dev.

GoldenEye > The Conduit visually (art style even put aside).

Honestly I would've like to have had Nintendo buy out Eurocom and turn them into a Nintendo Europe studio. 007 Legends sucked, but it was because the studio was basically being disbanded during development.

Art style aside, I strongly disagree.

Goldeneye did characters with actual facial animations, but it had lower res textures, far less effects, blob shadows, very few surface shaders, and a lower framerate.

I think that what most people seem to forget is that most developers have been developing games for ''HD systems'' for 7-8 years getting alot of experience in it and adjusting to the higher workload that comes with it. Nintendo's studios don't have that experience yet, and they have some catching up to do.

What? Monolith soft seems to be doing pretty good. ^^'

Brilliant idea ! They were (imo) always restricted by the publishers they worked with but were a quality studio at their core (Sphynx and the Cursed Mummy was fantastic and probably the only multiplat game that had the GameCube as the lead platform).

And with Nintendo´s Mida´s touch/guidance, they could have become the next Rare/Retro/Gamefreak/Next-Level-Games/Alphadream/Monolith Soft.

*Sigh*
