Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Can we trust Microsoft anymore?

Not sure how anyone could support a surveillance camera in your living room.

Of course the folks with the Master Chief avatars defend everything Xbox. But how can you defend Microsoft telling you "if you want to play Xbox One, you must allow install this surveillance camera in your living room". This is not a PS vs Xbox issue or Halo vs Killzone issue. Don't understand how you can be so pro Xbox that you can be ok with this

You all better turn your phones off and never use your computer. ALL phone calls are monitored as is ALL Internet traffic. You are being monitored 100% of the time.

Didn't people know this?

Makes me laugh how that idiot scrambling around for political asylum ruined his life to tell us something we already knew unless we were incredibly naive.

Seriously

Everyone should just play their X1 naked. Problem solved.

So, if everyone does it, it's okay? If I pay Microsoft for encryption and they still give my data away without encryption, that's fine?

Internet and telephone is monitored, yes, but you can protect yourself. But if a company offers encryption and then jsut gives away data decrypted, it gets useless.

When it comes to security, don't trust Microsoft. But tbh, you shouldn't trust any american company when it comes to that, I doubt Microsoft had a choice.

When it comes to consoles, I don't know, just buy what you like. If you don't want kinect (like me) buy a PS4. I mean, the choices are there. If you like to, buy an XBox One. But if we get some scandal in five years about how kinect monitors everything you do, don't go complaining. You know what you're up to. I mean, if Kinect can really be deactivated, why can't I unplug it? If it can really be 100 % turned off - why can't I unplug it? Simple question that MS can't or don't want to answer, Not very trustworthy if you ask me...

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Why would you trust a multi-billion dollar corporation? You might as well trust your countries government while your at it.

Ahhhh. I see now. This is all a ploy to drive traffic to the site where you wrote the "article".

Read your article, in full. Needs work, it's a little high school ish.

Also read the comments. You are very uninformed.

"Nintendo would never do this and probably Sony wouldn't either". Right, and there we have it.

You then admit you didn't even know about the root kit scandal, you admit the delay in revealing the Sony outage was bad but they probably wouldn't do this? Isn't Facebook integration a part of "share" on the PS4? Good luck with that.

I wrote the comment about the Sony outage before the one about the rootkit scandal. My whole...."wouldn't do this" is based on what Microsoft specifically has done, with the whole....willingly providing backdoors around their security that is there to give people a sense of privacy, without relegating it to specific accounts.

There's no need to attack my credibility or my article. It comes off as childish and petty. I never once claimed I was a professional journalist or that "OMG I'M THE BEST WRITER EVER." It's an opinion article....hence the blog-post type feel. It was meant to spur discussion on the topic, nothing more so leave the personal attacks out of it.

This has nothing to do with gaming consoles. The spying on all of us is nothing we should have in a democracy. I already lived in a spy-country in my childhood: eastern germany. I'm pissed, I'm now spied on again, even worse as technology has evolved since then. That's no problem of the US alone, we already know the UK and France do similar stuff. And I'm sure my country germany is not better. We as citizens has the duty to restore democracy and freedom. We have to stand up against the governments, that pervert the democratic-system. At the moment we no longer live in free countries. We need something like the arabian spring in the west: a peaceful revolution.

Anyon here who trusts any company here is a complete tool.

Sony are bound by the same laws in the US. Meaning any serviices with the same point will also have to comply. As will Nintendo. To think Microsoft are the only company in america who have to abide by the laws is ludicrous.

This sort of thing has existed with Facebook, E-mails etc for years. Its amazing what makes the news even if its 5 years to late.

This's some enthusiastic BS :D Don't feel offended but there's even a word for people who have similar train of thought -- an elf.

Log off, buy this and live happily -- you're protected from spying now.
