Well there's Facebook. Tumblr, Vine, Instagram..etc..etc. It's missing the most popular apps out there.

Huh? All four of those are most certainly available on Andriod.

That is patently false.

Android? We were talking Windows Store here. I just realized the guy I replied to completely misread my comment and I his.

Surface RT has a fully functional desktop class browser that supports flash, cookies and anything else you need to use video streaming sites, and things like Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr without any issues. Better yet, it lets you do things like stream Wimbledon from the official site while you answer work emails at the same time in split screen mode. Try that with an iPad.

Also Vine app is coming out for Windows phone 8 which uses 95% the same code as Windows 8 apps hence its pretty much confirmed for Windows 8 too.

This actually might make me buy one even though I already have an iPad. Do windows 8 store games work on the surface like Game Dev tycoon?

Yep. Most of the 100,000 apps work on both Win 8 and Win RT. Game Dev Tycoon does...

Only apps that don't work are the ones that have "desktop" label in the Win 8 store.

Tablets running the real Windows 8 are getting around that price as well.

Don't think I'll ever consider buying a tablet that runs Windows RT.

I would love to see the high-end pro at $700. I would definitely get one for that price.

I would jump on the wagon too.

Wow, did this device flop or what? Just like I perdicted.

I've personally never seen one of these in the wild or even advertized here in Sweden. Marketshare must be dismal.

Microsoft didn't even try to sell it in Sweden. They sell it at 5 or 6 countries only.

I think what they wanted with this device is to set the standard for Windows 8 tablets. They didn't try to dominate the market.

Even at launch, it was only available at Microsoft stores.

Similar to Zune then since it wasn't released in many regions. Surface and Windows tablets will go the same way as Zune.

If Microsoft wants to get rid of these tablets, they should simply unlock the bootloader so people can run other operating systems where using ARM hardware isn't a big disadvantage, but even an advantage.

Too bad it's just the Win RT version. I'm not sure why people would want that one.
The Surface Pro would be a much better buy when/if they throw a Haswell CPU in there. That would give it much better battery life compared to the IB CPU in the current version. Seeing how much the battery life improved on the MacBook Air with Haswell makes me want to pick up a MBA again. Surface Pro would be tempting with one at a good price.

Still not worth it. The Windows Store has no good apps on it. Not even an official Facebook app.
With tablets, its all about the apps. Even Android tablets are still lagging in that deparment.

iPad really is the best option for someone looking for the best there is. iPad Mini if you're on a budget.

Out of curiosity, besides games(where IOS has a clear advantage over Android) what apps can you get on an iPad that are unavailable on Android?

Well there's Facebook. Tumblr, Vine, Instagram..etc..etc. It's missing the most popular apps out there.

i dont know what you are smoking but facebook and instagram are both on andrion

Read the conversation. I was talking Windows Store, the person which replied to me thought I was talking Android, I didn't notice, I made that bolded comment.
