Forums - Gaming Discussion - X-Box 360 owners, why are you switching to PS4?

I might never buy the bone only because I no longer game as much as I used to and I do not want to have all consoles. The PS4 is cheaper, more powerful and has a way better history in first party. Most people I know are Sony only gamers. I do not want Done Mattrick masturbating to me playing Halo 5 because he is a fucking pervert.

I'm not. I've always enjoyed my experiences with Xbox consoles more than I have with any Playstation games, and looking at the upcoming lineup of games for the two new consoles, Microsoft again has the lineup of games that I find more compelling. It's not just an old stalwart like Halo that has me picking up an Xbox One; Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, and Project Spark all look really interesting, and they aren't titles I want to miss.

What has Sony got right now for me? Not much. Transistor for sure, but that game could still make it's way to Xbox. The Order 1886 might also be pretty cool, but I'm not 100% convinced yet. Other than that, nothing. I've no interest in their old franchises like Killzone or Infamous, and Knack is definitely not my kind of platformer.

Then this thread is obviously not for you. So why respond to it?

Lol obviously this thread isn't for you either as you never answered the OT at all.

Sth88 is more on topic than your comment and all you did was manage to derail the thread.

@OT - I intend on picking up the X1 at launch and the PS4 hopefully next year or whenever they annonuce something that gets me interested. Probably will end up being a Naughty Dog game :P

Reasons I'm going to switch from a 360 to a PS4.

1. Practically all my gaming is portable. Remote play and a Vita is very appealing. I can't afford all that hardware at once, so this is a 3-5 year plan or longer, but it's got me eyeing the PS4 more.

2. I practically never play muliplayer games. If it isn't Nintendo, it's not usually fun. If I go PS4 I at least have the option to not get a subscription and keep my Netflix. Oh, and PSN's free games are a lot better choices than XBox's.

3. OMGF $100 more?! This is an expensive enough habit already!

4. Because screw you and your DRM. The very gall of trying is insulting.

5. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Last of Us will probably be on Gaikai. I regret getting a 360 because I didn't get to play these games. I want to play these games.

6. Because "--XBox on--" totally happens in casual conversation and in your own press conferences. Seriously, I want to give my console a name just so you'll stop jerking my chain. "Hal, ignore voice commands, please."

7. Because I might buy a XB1 eventually, too, but when I do it will be all about borrowing games from friends or buying exclusives. (read: I'll be a bad customer and Microsoft will make no money off me.)

Is this necessary?

Some gamers are fickle and don't have corporate loyalties. Some buy based on what's cheaper. Most buy for the games library.

Only a niche minority actually care about things like corporate perception and policies behind the scenes that influence their taste in gaming.

You know what's funny? I'm sure you don't realize this, but you just described yourself in detail!

I owned both the 360 and PS3 this gen. The 360 was my first Microsoft console. I've been a Sony supporter since the PS1 but decided to give the 360 a chance because they had a lot of great exclusive, in particular a lot of JRPG exclusives early on. Games like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery were enough to sway me to purchase the console. However, what I've noticed is that those great 3rd party exclusives basically stopping coming to the 360 by year 3 or 4 of the life cycle and I've begun to play almost exclusively on my PS3.

So like what a lot of people here have already mentioned, I know that Sony will continue to invest in their consoles come year 5 and beyond of the life cycle. Just this year alone we have exclusives like Ni no Kuni, The Last of Us, Beyond; Two Souls, GT6, Rachet & Clank: Into the Nexus still coming to the PS3 whereas Microsoft has largely abandoned the 360. I may still get an X1 eventually, but it probably won't be much later down the line after a couple of price cuts. I want to make sure that I'm not investing $500+ in a console that I'm going to enjoy for 2 good years and then sit and collect dust like it was for my 360 this gen.

LOL! You didn't need to add this "@OP" part. We both know you had no intention of taking part in the discussion before you felt the urge to reply  to my comments.  But yeah, expected and obligatory predictablility inbound...

I'm not switching to anything. I've always been a multiple console owner, every gen. That doesn't mean I'm not interested to know what reason those who will switch are giving. ^_-

I have no reason not to buy an xbox one! have you seen the games?!

And i'll wait for the ps4 exclusives to actually be realesed!!! last time I waited forever to buy the ps3...you know why??

because the damn games they showed never arrived!!!! where is Agent??...TLGuardian?..FFVersus??? Getaway??? this were AAA titles that just never released. So no, I'm not leaving my xbox one exclusives for games that sony shows and never releases!!!

i'll wait to see what they actually release before buying a ps4

I've switched, but to a Wii U for the time being. I'm evaluating the market. In a dream scenario Wii U will take off and will get every major third party multiplat. Under the assumption that they won't, I'm on the fence between getting a PS4 or a new high-end PC.

XBoxOne is running a distant 3rd. My reasons are:
-I hate subscription fees. (vs. Wii U and PC)
-PS4 is $100 cheaper, while a PC is more versatile.
-The exclusives are weak. Nothing seems good. I like Halo, but that's it and it's lost a bit of magic. The last Fables sucked, and Bioware is now multiplat. Mistwalker is now on Nintendo. The games that pushed me to buy a 360 are no longer exclusive. Titanfall looks neat... but I could get that on PC and eventually on PS4 most likely.
-Corporate agenda. I didn't like the push for no-used games. But on a larger scale I don't like the MS agenda as a whole. XBox is a way for them to push their products down your throat. It's going to be Windows based, it will be friends with your Windows phone or Windows PC or Windows Tablet. I hate being a pawn in their corporate mind control. They don't care about gamers, they just use XBox to indoctrinate. And keep in mind that I LOVED my original XBox. But since then the brand has bridged itself into the larger Microsoft plan and is no longer a pure games machine.
-I don't like being watched.
-I kinda miss Playstation. It's been a while since I used a Sony home console, and I miss the style and the games a bit. If I get a second home console it would be nice to reboot the Sony nostalgia after a good break.

I was going to trade in my pS3 for a PS4, but after the 180, I do not need a PS4, so now, Looking forward to picking up an Xbox One.

Has a single respondent been a 360 only owner that is moving to PS4?

OT

im not either.

I don't know. I'm not going to check everyone's profiles. Doesn't change the fact that the question is aimed at people switching. Not at people like you who are sticking to the brand.

"Why are you switching from MS to Sony?"

"The reason why I'm switching from MS to Sony is because I am not switching to Sony."

¬_¬

You do know, its obvious, and the OP has even elaborated now and said "I want to see why hardcore fans of x have switched to y"

i don't recognise one single reply that satisfies that criteria, therefore can you please now reply to all posts thus far and say. "This thread is not for you"

Because to use your example back at you what they are actually saying is...

"The reason why I'm switching from MS to Sony is so that I can carry on playing the Sony games I loved on my PS3" That's not "switching".

Just like I am not switching to Xbox one, I'm just not bothering with a playstation this time because I fucking hate facebook.  (Hey I'm allowed to be irrational too you know)

is anyone here switching? or just deciding not to be multi-owner....

If anything, this thread is showing us that hardly anyone is switching. All the usual XBox enthusiasts aren't switching (You, Sale2099, Jaywood (oh, sorry Jay... you're completely unbiased, I forgot...).

But of course, the number of 360 fans isn't really high on VGC. Would be interesting to see how such a thread would be like with a bigger sample of users.
