Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U system update live NOW (July 10)

SOURCE

However its not the big "summer" update.

Version 3.1.0 U available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:

Improvements to Standby Functions:

  • The standby functions will now regularly connect to the Internet when the Wii U is powered down to check for available SpotPass data or software and system updates. Software updates will be installed while the Wii U is powered down, and system updates will be installed the next time the Wii U is powered on. For further detailed information, click here.

Improvements to system stability and usability:

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.

*A system update providing further additions to system functionality is planned for release between the end of September and beginning of October.

Looks like the bigger update is coming at the literal end of Summer.

Thats kind of disappointing. I wonder if we'll get Gameboy and GameCube games for VC by the next update, cause i really dont care for any other functionality.

Not as awesome as the updates we used to get on xbox 360 but still welcome. my Wii U has been freezing lately so hopefully the update fixes that.

Really? I haven't had one since before the April update. Well at least you don't have to unplug it anymore. Holding the power button works as it should.

slow video playback on e-shop and lack of content are the only two deficiencies of the system.

I hope they're able to improve the Gamepad range a little in a future update.

My mom recently got a WiiU (for Pikmin) and the connection is a little spotty from her bedroom where she has the console connected to her couch where she uses the Gamepad while watching TV.

They improved it with the April update.

At launch I could only use gamepad downstairs. After that update I could use it 1/2 of my 2nd story (the half closer to the front-room where Wii U console is located... and which covers my bedroom.

To me, thats good enough, but of course I wouldn't complain if it worked in 100% of home either.

more e more games on e-shop and faster download is all I need

Yeah, i had problems with Nintendo Land and Ninja Gaiden initially.  Nintendo Land had its own update, i think.  Ninja Gaiden 3 never gave me problems after the last update.  I started getting at least one freeze per day over the 4th of July week.  Even had one today logging into MiiVerse.  Didn't know about the power button, though.  I was still unplugging it.

yep, I've been having freezing problems, had to unplug the cord 3 times, even had to reinstall and delete data game from Kung Fu Rabbit (I may say, awesome game) because it was unplayable. Wonder what the new big summer-ish update will bring to the os
