Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4's digital library lets you play your games anywhere & on anyone’s console

Gosh, I just assumed the PlayStations could do that. I didn't know until last month the PS3 was limited to two - as my friend had to buy another copy to play cause his other PS3 had broken (it was his 2nd one.) It had broken and he couldn't deactivate it or something like that.

Seems like a no brainier to me As other have pointed out X360 has had this for years. And it really doesn't take long to download most games - even on my slow 15mb/s cable. Plus, you can often do something else and it will download in the background.

You can desactivate from internet (PC browser) once time each six months.

Do you mean the playing your digital games on your friends PS3 part? Because you could always do that. What is new here is that you can play as you download. You can also choose to download the single player or the multiplayer first so you can do what you want as quickly as possible.

PS3 had a lot of limit in this feature... like only 2 PS3 at time and desactivation of system each six months.

Seems not the same here... something more automatic or liberal.

The 6m for deactivation is if you do it through their website; but you can deactivate/activate through the PS3 as many times you want.  I do this a lot since I have 4 PS3.  2 (1 for me and other for my brother) in my home at my birth country; and other 2 here in Brazil; so that when we (my brother and I) travel  back to Peru;  we deactivate the ones in Brazil; and when I arrive at Peru we activate them.

Hopefully this news means that I wont need to activate/deactivate my system constantly :D

So you can login in on your friend's console and play the game without having downlaod it again on their console? That's a nice feature. On the 360 you have to download the game again when you're logged in on a friend's console and it can take a while if they have a slow connection.

I'm really curious as to how well instant play as you're downloading will work. Are there games that allow this already or is this new tech? Also it's a bout time ps3 got the install disk feature- I'm ready for shorter loading times (Mass Effect 2 on ps3 could've really used this feature).

if you mean console games I'm not sure, but if you look at world of warcraft you can pretty much start playing that now using the streaming client after maybe... 20 mb of the 30gb of game have downloaded, just that the areas load up around you as you run about. You wouldn't want to wander into any pvp areas since different player models and armor models all need to be gotten and loaded seperately so you're likely to be killed by a shadow hah.

He could. Online. It takes a long-ass time to download full blu-ray games. For many it could take up to a day.

woah so fast?

you also have to download it on your friends console but to play the first part of the game you only have to download the first part of the game and while you play it downloads the rest in the backround. if the internet is fast enough it downloads the next levels faster as you play the game so you will only have to wait before you start the game. if it's not fast enough it could happen that you reach a level and then the console says "please wait until the next part is downloaded" or something like that.

Its the little features Live has over PSN that differentiated them. But the average 360 gamer (including me), didn't know things like this to use it as a talking point. lol damn

Now that Sony caught up, the windows closed :(

why are you obsessed with arguing about video games? its like every piece of info or news you come across you think about how to use it to bash sony or defend microsoft

Ever since I joined this site and saw that guy posting I've always wondered the same thing.

i would honestly like a straight answer from him

Huh... right. You can play a game without the actual game data... ¬_¬

Console war is serious business.  I'd say more, but I'd get myself banned.
