Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4's digital library lets you play your games anywhere & on anyone’s console

I'm really curious as to how well instant play as you're downloading will work. Are there games that allow this already or is this new tech?

The Last of us did it. I can't quite remember but i'm sure you had to download 50% before you could start playing.

However with PS4 you'll be able to download much less before you can start playing.

So what the Xbox 360 has had for years....

Well good news is better than no news. And i guess the main feature here is the instant play function where you can play the game as you're downloading.

PS3 has also had this for years....just fyi no need to bring xbox into this.

so we can play all our digital games that we own on a friends console instantly. excellent

Do you mean the playing your digital games on your friends PS3 part? Because you could always do that. What is new here is that you can play as you download. You can also choose to download the single player or the multiplayer first so you can do what you want as quickly as possible.

PS3 had a lot of limit in this feature... like only 2 PS3 at time and desactivation of system each six months.

Seems not the same here... something more automatic or liberal.

PS3 has had this too, but the difference here is that you can play as you download.

PS3 had it depending on how many consoles you had active, how long it had been since you last deactivated a console, and whether or not publishers had any DRM on their games being shared across consoles. This sounds like a more open ended design and I hope both consoles utilize it, it should be how all content is handled in the future. Just sign on with your account info and play.

Its the little features Live has over PSN that differentiated them. But the average 360 gamer (including me), didn't know things like this to use it as a talking point. lol damn

Now that Sony caught up, the windows closed :(

wait you can play as you download on the 360 or are you talking out of your ass again

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

My ass :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Play and download is a feature already know for both... Xbone and PS4.

I will permaban myself if the game releases in 2014.

in reference to KH3 release date

This is how you push people to digital only and thus no used game market. You make digital retail a far better option that physical retail. Make it cheaper with better features.

This is why it works on Android/iOS. Its cheap and easily usable on any device you log into.

This is how MS should have approached that philosophy on Xbone and likely how it will work now. But Sony is of course getting the positive buzz for this while MS is seeing as backpeddling.
