Forums - General Discussion - Mexico Takes Over America’s Spot as the World’s Most Obese Developed Country

To be fair, Americas obesity rates are different by race with minorities being far more obese than European descent Americans. When looking at any country, but especially America, obesity differences in different demographics should be taken into account looking at race, and social economic level, yet rarely are. Food for thought. Poverty in America is associated with the most obesity.

yes Bodybuilders can be obese with a very low body fat but most people are not bodybuilders and 200 pound pure muscle is really the exception. Also anorexic means you have an eating disorder technically you can be fat and anorexic. But if you are anorexic or bulimic and dont lose massively weight to the point of underweight you arent really endagering your life so it just means you have a few screws lose.

I see, I just do not like the definition.

It is funny how the Obesity term is used, mainly because I have probably only met 3 Obese people in my life in USA. Must be massive differences in Obesity between the states.

Good for you, really only 3?

I see obese people most everywhere.  Morbidly obese, not as often, but they seem to be the ones we call fat in the USA.  Still there are plenty of them.

I was watching and old British show recently and the wife was complaining how ‘disgustingly fat’ her husband was. By today’s  USA standards, he would only be considered plump.

You are considered obese if your body fat is over 25% as a male and 32% as a female.  I think in the USA we are so use to it, we don't really see it.

Here is a handy chart:

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

A lot of it has to do with lack of safe drinking water in Mexico, and their delicious, made-from-sugar-not-fucking-corn-syrup soda, that is widely available in lieu of questionable drinking water. So it's a country where a lot of people have to take in a lot of sugar just to get the hydration they need.

Is corn syrup really making the beverages in the US taste so bad?

It is also bad for people who are fructose intollerant, it can fuck your stomach up and you get cramps and if its really bad the shitz/

I have seen a lot of them. But I would say I only met 3 up close. The definition just really bothers me when I could be 6 foot 1 inch 120 lb and have close to 25% body fat and be considered obese when really that is skinny as F.

Sorry, not following you.  I don't see how somone 6'1" could be both 120lb and have 25% body fat.

But if you are a male, yes, 25% body fat is considered obese.  But if you are female, you have a little more room.

I belive they go off when the body fat start making unhealthy changes to the body and death rates start to rise dramatically.
