"The news is especially harsh since fans raised nearly $95,000 in donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation earlier this year to allow Smash to be included in the tournament. Nintendo’s streaming block follows its decision to enforce copyright on YouTube videos in May."

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

If EVO got revenue because of the streaming and disagreed on profit sharing or whatever I assume Nintendo has the authority to at least shut it down.

Not like Sony and MS haven't tried to block streaming games. Nintendo's a bit late on this.

I still don't understand why Nintendo is doing this though, what was the conflict? I think they need to clarify this before anything else

Was it streamed the last time it was on Evo? or even Brawl? I don't remember.

Last time it was streamed was in 2008. Obviously Evo has grown a lot since then.

I think you all are blaming this on the wrong people. Stop saying "Nintendo" and start saying "NoA" or "Nintendo of America."
They are basically the red-headed step child of the Nintendo of *Insert Country here* groups.

Also, I don't see how this would've given them any positives or negatives. I doubt having their game there would promote their new Smash Bros, so I see no reason as to why this could be a "benefit." Although, I also see no side to having their game being there a negative either. I guess because NoA.

.....its the same with every company u cant just blame NoA when NoA represents nintendo as a whole. Also, this isnt about positives and negatives its about the fans of the game they created and the way they slapped them in the face with this. they raised money for this and have been fighting to keep the game alive. There are no negatives to allowing the game in, however stopping it jus makes their fans angry and makes them look like assholes.

its like they dont use the internet at all. esports has a huge following and they dont have to do anything to please the fans of an awesome game they made.

Noa is a dick. They don't localize shit, don't give us any colors for 3DSXL, and then they do crap like this. I am so sick of them.

To Nintendo (the business) I doubt all that'll matter. It's just "small damage" to them, most likely.

Still, we have no reasoning.

Evo streams are protected by fair use, I say they should tell Nintendo to piss off.

A proper negotiated solution would be for Nintendo to let EVO stream it, under the condition that the only ads used on the livestream are for Nintendo games.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yes this is true, but Nintendo didn't.  I say EVO just do it anyways and send them to the law book where fair use is under.  Though with that said, I might have to look at it cause I'm making assumptions off of hearsay.

It's back.

Looks like they worked out a deal.
