Well, I'm not going to buy third-party games for Wii U to prove some kind of point. I buy my third-party games according to which version is best. If all things are equal, I go for the cheapest option. Some games, like Sonic Transformed, Deus Ex, and maybe Watch Dogs, look superior on Wii U, so I'll go for those. Others, like Mass Effect 3 and Arkham City, well I bought those for X360.

It's not breaking news that a Nintendo console alone won't provide a complete gaming experience. But NO console or computer alone provides such an experience. I buy Nintendo first and foremost because its exclusive software is the best in the business. I play X360, PS3, and PC to round out the experience with awesome third-party games unavailable for Nintendo systems.

I plan to buy Batman Arkham Origins and Watch Dogs on Wii U.

What games besides exclusives are next Gen only? I seen someone mention it but can't think of anything.

He is right. If people don`t buy games on Wii U, the console will see less support.

the only third party games I will get this holiday are Rayman and Sonic

I don't really care for COD, Batman, AC and SC

100 million install base, weak specs = no third party support.
Higher specs, small install base = no third party support.
Nintendo..damned if you do, damned if you dont.

OT-I will be buying Watch dogs, Arkham and maybe splinter cell for my Wii U. Gotta snap up the good third party games that are here.

wrong, Wii got alot of 3rd party support, ALOT or do you think all those games on the WIi were made by Ninty, WIi had more games than either PS3 or 360

Your right Wii did get a lot of 3rd party support, but what ratio of it was actually decent? A lot of 3rd parties released sub par efforts to cash in on its success, and games like Red Steel 2 and Goldeneye were few and far between.

Many 3rd parties used the "weak hardware" excuse to not bring certain franchises out on Wii, or even build an exclusive from the ground up to suit the hardware. I mean the sales were there, so they could have reaped the rewards. Now Ninty has the tools to create these HD experiences 3rd parties now bang on about low sales of the hardware. Nintendo cant win sometimes

Well I think it's kinda like a guy going on a date without his pants on, then realizing that was a bad idea, so he makes sure to wear pants on your second date, but you forget to wear a shirt on that one.

The Wii U is a new set of mistakes that Nintendo made, so it's not so much that they "can't win". Honestly I don't think Nintendo really cares to win this audience anyway, for them it's kind of a "nice to have", not a "must have", they design their hardware with philosophies tailored to their own company whims, and make a few minor concessions to the needs of third parties here or there.

For Nintendo to honestly compete for a lot of third party support, they'd have to provide hardware that's roughly equivalent to what the other companies are providing *and* then have a userbase to back that up. The GameCube got one of those right, the Wii got one of those right, but neither got both of them right.

The only third party multi-plat that honestly interests me on the Wii U is Batman and if there's no PS4/XB1 version, I'll probably get it for Wii U if I do buy it at all. I'm getting Wonderful 101, Super Mario 3D World, and Donkey Kong Country: TF this fall for sure.

This and in the case of GC I still hold that it got decent 3rd party support. Lot of multis that didnt run like crap and even some exclusives here and there.

The Wii get horrible bad 3rd party support, the things that some even bad games sell well are not important, you should understand that WiiU is new product and most early adopters are core Nintendo fans and those were horribly disappointed by quality of 3rd party support on Wii.

So what exactly they expected .

actually the fact that those "bad" games did sell well is very important, because if they see those games sell, they WILL make more of them. Which will lead to the bad 3rd party support you say Wii got. Again, can you blame 3rd parties for making games that people WANT for that system. No, the Wii did not get "bad" 3rd party support, it got different 3rd party support.

Wii U...ok. Not sure what early adopters have to do with it. Hell those are the super Ninty fans, so there money will go to Ninty games, certainly not that much 3rd party games, quality or not considering most of the games so far are ports.

there should be an option, 'I like nintendo, but I don't like the WiiU.'
But I don't know wat nintendo was thinking with the WiiU.
They had something very nice with the wii... and then they went with a 'hardcore' console, majority of people didn't buy the wii for the hardcore experience.
I don't see a bright future for the WiiU

I wish that GTAV was coming to it. Many will skip the Wii U this Christmas because that game is not on it.

At this point, almost no one is going to buy a new console for GTAV--they already have it.  That's like saying no one is going to buy the PS4 because it doesn't have GTAV.

People will still buy the PS4.

"decent" is in the eye of the beholder, there were a LOT of games on Wii that I would not consider anywhere near decent, but you know what? they sold well, especially considering what they must have cost to make. So yes they did cash in on its sucess and whose fault is that? Would any of us not done the same thing, not their fault all those dancing exercise games do well, they are giving the audience exactly what they want.

What are these franchises that should have come to WIi   cause im sure they would not have been anywhere near their HD counterparts and with that being the case, no one would buy the WIi version. Would an Assassin's Creed fan buy a WIi version of that game knowing its going to be worst than what he/she is used to? nope. Hell you can look at the multiplat games for Wii and see that.

Both GTA and Assasins creed could have had a Wii version. Not a crappy down port, but an exclusive game built from the ground up to suit the hardware. GTA games were good on PS2, so im sure a decent GTA could have been utilized to run on the Wii. My point being, the install base was there, an exclusive Wii GTA or Assassins Creed would both have sold over a million. But 3rd parties didnt want to build such games from the ground up for the Wii, even though the audience was there. Goldeneye was a quality game built from the ground up for Wii, it sold superbly, and got ported to the HD systems. It proves it could be done.

Nintendo is on track to have a Gamecube level selling console if they dont drop the price this holiday season. Next season Xbox One will have a price drop and Halo and PS4 will have UC4 (most likely). It will be too late at that point.
