Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is PS4 dominating One in internet polls a hint at hardcore gamers heavily favoring it?

Didn't the Vita won almost all polls back in day? Gaming polls on forums are nothing to go by.

1. The internet is crawling with sony fanboys.

2. Internet polls don't tell much of anything.

With that said, hardcore gamers may indeed be favoring ps4 but not at the exaggerated lopsided levels suggested by internet polls.

Its not just the internet...it's everywhere...Microsoft dropped the ball and kicked it uphill before they got their shit together...not to mention the price point...for 50 bucks more you get an experience that shits on the Wii U in terms of power and a 100 bucks less than Microsofts huge ass VCR box...and no bad press

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Sony fans don't dominate the internet, but yes on the gaming sites they are quite vocal and take a larger chunk of the mass than the rest. The reason for this is because Sony dominated the gaming industry and expanded the market completely during the time period of the internet going mainstream in the late 90's to the 00's. If theres a lot of Sony fans there a good reason for it, but at the same time I think its been generationally dissected by Microsoft. A lot of Microsoft consumers in the first generation tended to be a lot of people whose families had good expendable income, then they changed that around when they were the first next gen budget next gen console , gaining for prominent followers from the Sony flagship who would probably be found on the internet. My guess would be that Microsoft's core fanbase is growing compared to Sony whose presence has been established and continues to ebb and flow because Microsoft seems to be taking their share from that crowd. Nintendos fanbase has been around for years and strong even though they seem quieter than the rest.

Since the ps3 shipped with an Internet browser from day 1 Sony fans are more in tune on how to use the Internet and they probably have better and more stable Internet than the xbox fans this is why all the always online stuff was remove from the X1, Xbox fans are not really used yet to online and everything attached to it

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

VGChartz is Sony biased.

The whole internet is Sony biased!

Sony fans 'dominate' the internet, is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. The truth is as hard as it may be to accept, there are simply more Sony fans than Xbox fans. Three generations of consoles -- 300,000,000+ consoles sold versus 100,000,000? That doesn't begin to account for the length of time Sony has existed versus Microsoft.

Sony is synonymous with Televisions, Walkmans, PCs, Electronics and mostly Gaming. Microsoft is synonymous with PCs, Operating Systems, Halo and just last generation (Video games).

Sony is winning these polls because the vocal majority of people who will pre-order or buy close to launch are voting. While I believe the 'real' numbers will be higher in Microsoft's favor, I don't believe it will change nearly as much as people believe. 70/30 PS4/XB1 is what I believe it's more realistically at currently. The people who are so skeptical of these polls, realize the statistical significance of these right?

How many times in your life have you watched a multi-billion dollar company completely do an about face on a product they were releasing? That's exactly what Microsoft did. Exactly. The only plausible, rationale explanation were that their preliminary sales data and research was so god awful atrocious that they realized drastic changes had to be made to regain some ground. Whether or not that ground has been made up, is up for debate but it certainly doesn't seem like it.

I think they always had the hardcore market.

The people saying Xbox fanboys don't care about the internet can be easily disproven. I bet these people didn't know that it was an Xbox fanboy who created the internet in the first place (Bill Gates). What you gotta say now?

Hardcore games buy all consoles.

Nope.  Bought Wii and PS3 this gen.  Played Gears and Halo at a friends house.  Not into online MP so we just played the campaigns.  360 didn't have enough to make me warrant the $200 I had waiting for it.  I'd sooner get a gaming PC than get a One (twice as expensive but then you get their console exclusives and Steam sales along with 60fps on everything).  Sony and Nintendo give me unique and plentiful experiences so I reward them.  MS needs to prove they can do this as well or they'll never see a dime from me and I consider myself hardcore (I have like 40 plats.  Not bragging just to show how many hours I put into games).
