Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The possibilites of some Nintendo franchises on the Wii U

Why? A MMO based off Pokemon would be cool.

It wouldn't. MMO's (looking at SE here) never seem to do well when transitioned from a best-selling RPG. I don't want a Pokemon MMO. Ever. I hope Nintendo never comes up with the odd idea to try that out.

I want to see a Star Fox U game that is everything Star Fox 64 was was, but more and better. That's all I've ever wanted in a SF game. Gorgeous graphics, massive, epic space battles, creative level/world/space mission designs, cool bosses, and NOTHING BUT SHOOTER GAMEPLAY. No getting out of vehicles for on foot missions, EVER. Just Star Fox, on rails shooter missions. THAT is what Star Fox is, and should remain.

I also want to see a new Wave Race game, with HD water graphics and advanced water physics so amazing that it might actually cause some to shit their pants. It could happen, and I really really REALLY want a new Wave Race, as I loved the 64 and GC games.

1 - mario, agreed.

2 - zelda, no linear indeed, but with a lot of gamepad usages. A game to play only on gamepad that would redefine the way we play zelda, that can only be played in the gamepad.

3 - metroid, i would like something like other M, with on TV a 2.5 sidescroller or something like it. on gamepad the first person view. The controls would change when you look at gamepad(the camera would look at your eyes and it will know if you are looking to tv or to gamepad).

4 - MK, 8 seems awesome. moubius strip would be very cool! The courses have infinities possibles with antigravity. Please, we need a course editor.

5- SSB, being smash bros, will be ok.

6 - star fox, roots, agreed.

7 -f-zero, agreed.

8 - 3D kirby, nice ideia.

9 - DK, I would prefer 2.5D.

10 - pokemon battle revolution is necessary.
Lots of players claimed for a battle revolution 2, cos they wanted to play B&W in a TV, at least in tournaments.
It and a pokemon snap 2 would be fantastic.

Here are the franchises that I'm itching to see:

1. Metroid: Just keep Sakamoto away. Other M was....not good at all. I don't want him touching the Metroid franchise, because he wants something completely different from what fans want. I hope Retro, or a new dev handles Metroid.

2. Kid Icarus: Nintendo has to see the potential here. Uprising was simply amazing, if Nintendo could get a sequel for it, I think the franchise could grow. The controls held the original back a bit, but the Wii U fixes that easily. Also, Kid Icarus was beautiful, if they can push the Wii U like they did the 3DS....damn.

3. Star Fox: This is one of Nintendo's coolest franchises IMO. The fast flight, cheesy dialogue, cool bosses, and great multiplayer made S64 a classic. If Nintendo could expand on THAT forumula, they would have my money. I am eager to see an arwing in HD.

4. F-Zero: If they just made GX in HD I would be happy. Wipeout is gone now, we need a futuristic racer! F-Zero was always better than Wipeout, and it's sad to see Nintendo stop caring about it.

5. Pikmin: I'm so happy Pikmin 3 is coming. It's one of my favorite Nintendo franchises.

Here's my take on Pokemon and Kirby.:

A 3D kirby game is highly unlikely considering a demo of one was created a while ago but Sakurai said he didn't like it. I'm open to it but he isn't.

Okay, Pokemon. Hate me all you want but I think a 3D game called "Pokemon: Orange League" should be made and it should follow the events of the Anime. I can see it in my head but I know it won't happen. A Pokemon MMO is more likely and will probably be the biggest game ever made.

Star Fox: Go back to the roots, just make an HD game like 64 and add more explosions, funny dialogue between Falco and Fox, The Barrel Roll, better ships, custom ships, huge battles, worlds and all that. I'm actually tired of Miyamoto claiming that he can't do much more with series like F-Zero and Star Fox. I love the guy but I hesr too much bull from him lately.

Paper Mario: Do I have to continue? If they just make PM feel like an RPG, something not accomplished since Thousand Year Door, Paper Mario would be a'ight again.

Golden Sun: After Dark Dawn, I was let down. The game was easily the worst golden sun of the 3. The story was erasing itself from my mind as I played because it was literally that bad. I know a console Golden Sun is a long shot since the next will probably be on 3DS, if there is one. I would just like to see Camelot do a Golden Sun in HD.

3D Mario: I don't want another "New" mario game because they aren't new anymore. With Wii U's ability to have two screens with 1 console it would be welcomed and possible if the next 64 styled mario allowed Mario and Luigi(2 players) to take on the game simultaneously in the same game world. Maybe you can both take on a stage that requires teamwork or just spread out and collect stars on your own while your buddy does its thing. The Wii U is a great console with so much untapped potential.

Kid Icarus: After Kid Icarus: Uprising Pit showed us that his Angel Land adventures were anything but over. I think the Wii U should be Nintendo's time to show off Nintendo's best franchises in glorious HD. Kid Icarus just started growing and I think he can only fly higher.

Like I said, the Wii U should be Nintendo's time to show off its most endearing franchises. When they get the hang of HD game making I think my dream will be realized.

re: in hopes, and sales expectations.

1. Mario- In about 2 or 3 years nintendo will release the next 3d mario which will be single player and sell millions. I can't really say i hope for anything from this game. 3dmario World has been the first mario game i have ever enjoyed and i expect the next mario to be the old formula of collecting stars, returning to the hub, collecting stars... etc. will return.

2. Zelda-The next zelda will be amazing and sell millions. Less millions than the next mario, but still millions. I do hope for the return of an open world as opposed to the hub. I do hope the upgraded story from skyward sword returns, and i also wouldn't mind if they brought back the option for motion controls.

3. Metroid- As always i can't wait for the next metroid. I would love a sequel to otherM to redeem the original and tie up the loose ends found in it. Will sell around 1 million.

4. Mario Kart- Mario Kart 8 looks cool. Not really sure how well it will sell considering the install base at present. Also, people have to be getting sick of playing the same game with new cars and tracks. Not much you can do to change the game, and there's still not alot of other games like it out there.

5. Super Smash Bros- Anxious to see the rest of the roster! 5mill+ seller. Can't wait to use mega man!!!!

6. Star Fox- I don't think nintendo will make the push to make this a real seller. They'll probably just rehash the 64 version and sell it on the 3ds. It'll sell a million at best.

7. F-Zero- I don't see this franchise coming back. If it does i hope there's some kind of chase or adventure levels. Some kind of story. No idea what sales would be.

8. Kirby- I could really use an extremely challenging 2d co-op kirby game. I think it sell a couple mill. A 3d game could be cool. Not sure what i'd expect, or even hope for though.

9. Donkey Kong- I don't know how well tropical freeze would sell. I don't know how many people really wanted a sequel to this. That plus a smaller install base may mean much smaller sales. I'm persnally not interested in a sequel. I think a new title in the vain of super mario 3d land could be cool. sales ??

10. Pokemon- Might sell a million. Pokemon has never been huge on consoles save maybe the 1st arena. Never been into pokemon, have no hopes for it. It's one of the few titles i hope stays handheld.

------------------------------------
Titles i'm interested in seeing not on the op list.

pikmin 3. Still bummed it didn't come to the wii, but i loved the 1st 2 hand hope this one is as good. 2 million would be optimistic sales i think.

new eternal darkness: Been wanting a new one for a looooong time. Don't think precursor games has the funds for a great spiritual successor, plus i wish it were a true sequel with more of the roivas family. Maybe a million seller.

Kid icarus. I could use another zelda, and kid icarus could fill that need. Let zelda come out ever 3-5 years, with kid icaurs on the off 3-5 years. that would be awesome.

This isn't a Nintendo game, but I always thought that Okami would be fitting on the Wii U.

I don't think the people who want a MMO Pokemon understand how horrible it can be. If it's going to the biggest MMO ever it will have a monthly subscription and probably force a crap load of paid DLC. And it will probably be the only new main RPGs for Pokemon like Warcraft until the most die-hard fans indifferent with their money get tired and the games will revert back to being handheld focus. But by then the damage will be done - just like WarCraft.

Most the games you listed are niche Nintendo games and will sell like 1-2million.

For example unless star fox evolves it will be lucky to sell one million. Most the star fox gamers moved onto other consoles years ago and one game won't bring them back if its a HD rehashed N64 game.

Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, DK, Smash Bros, Mario Kart are not niche. 7 out of 10.

See I would say the following are:

Metroid (aint no halo level)

DK (just appeals to some Nintendo fans)

Pokemon (nichie for console, I personally dont knwo anyone who bought the ones that did come out on consoles)

Metroid. Cause it isn't Halo doesn't mean it can't be impressive and amazing (Retro's next game for sure, they kinda confirmed it already)

And DK, explain the nearly 6 million sales for DKCR and the good sales for the port on the 3DS?

I never said Metroid is a bad game, Nintendo could market it better and make it grow into a huge franchise on their systems, jsut like MIcrososft did with Halo.

Star fox has the same potential to appeal to a wider audience if done right.

As for DKCR and most recent ones have only sold somewhat well in the USA compared to previous installment. In other regions the game has declined even further ever generation .

Nintendo essentially needs to work out what franchises out of these nichie ones have the potential to expand their audience on the Wii U and become huge franchises likemario and zelda have.
