I would actually really like a game like that. I'm probably one of the only people that still likes nu metal.

You said you're Canadian, right? Is your name Chad Kroeger?

I guess there really isn't much point considering they pretty much have an ip in every genre of game.
Racing: FZero, Excite series, mariokart I guess they could add a sim racer....
Flight/dogfighting: Star Fox, Pilotwings
Sports: Mario sports, wii sports, punch out
Puzzle: Layton(level 5 but still held hostage by Nintendo right?), Brain Age, Pokémon/Mario spin offs
Adventure: Zelda, Metroid
Platformers: Mario, DK, Kirby
RPG: Golden Sun, Pokémon, Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi
Strategy: Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Pikmin
I don't feel like going on. By the time they refresh all the franchises that people love, they have great games in every genre. I personally like that they stick with their franchises. Seems like they are more focused on supporting a franchise instead of jumping from ip to ip.

I've always noticed a difference between how Nintendo does things vs the others.

Nintendo will use the same character with ideas that could have been their own new IP. Kirby does this a lot.
Others use the same game but with different characters. The Division from Ubisoft comes to mind.

The division is just a character swap of a previous game? Which one?

taking a wild guess here. The generic soldier?

Yes and No.

Yes: Because new gameplay, make a game feel even more fresh and new even with an existing IP. Example: Kirby Epic Yarn

No: Because that new gameplay design add character to a new IP. Example: Profesor Layton, Phoenix Wright

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Miyamoto and ninty to me are like bakers, they make breads, cakes and muffins etc and they make them good because that is what they specialize in. to make their stuff taste different they add different flavors to the bread but it is still bread, just the best bread you ever tasted. like banana bread, garlic bread, sour dough etc. when people ask them can i have a hamburger they go this is a bakery, hamburgers are across the street at X-Bonalds, we dont make hamburgers. hehehe i know this is a silly but i like this analogue. oh and sony is like an asian buffet hahaha

To my knowledge, an open world, team-based TPS with RPG elements set in New York hasn't been done yet.

"Mario 3D World ... plays a lot like previous 3D Marios."
So, why people are complaining about Super Mario 3D World levels having a less open world than previous 3D Mario or the presence of a timer ? Why are they fearing the absence of an overworld ?

"A game with the same exact char doing diff things is not realy a new ip, merely a spin off."
By this definition, Are Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario spin off of Super Mario series ? Knowing that primarily Mario Bros was destined to be a spin-off of Donkey Kong arcade...

I'd say wrong, content (world, setting etc. pretty much everything else but gameplay) in most cases defines game more than gameplay. Not that I have problems with Nintendo's new IPs, I have  problems with Nintendo maintaning some of their old IPs legacy.

Well they all do belong to the same mario brand that extends to diff game play series, but retains familiar characters so yes. I don't consider it a new ip unless they change the setting/story and characters.
