I think they have to specify what WiiU they mean.
Luckily they didn't make the same mistake with the Nintendo 3DS

They do this with a lot of games-- Super Nes games always had "Super" in the title, N64 games always had "64" in the title, GBA games always had "Advance" in the title, etc. It's no big deal. I think that in this case, it just a working title, though. Remember we didn't know what Twilight Princess was going to be called for years after it was announced or Skyward Sword. We just kept calling it Zelda Wii. Even Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon didn't get a subtitle until a short time before release. Either way, it's no biggie.
A few ideas:
- Super Smash Bros. Universe
- Super Smash Bros: Sorry, No Cross-Play
- Super Smash Bros: The Mayor Has An Axe To Grind
- Super Smash Bros: Your Ideal Heart Rate Is Zero
- Super Smash Bros: Holy Shit, Someone Doing Something Right With Megaman on Console
- Super Smash Bros: So You Want a WiiU Now, Right? RIGHT!?

I kinda like it for some weird hipster reason. What game has ever done this? XD

I also like when they do that, but no I meant the actual subtitle "for 3DS". I like it :3

it was confirmed at e3 that this is the official title. I think IGN tweeted that sakurai himself confirmed it
