Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo messes up again with the marketing!

I'm pretty sure Bayonetta and MGRising didnt bomb. Thye managed to move a million.

As for the wonderful 101, i dont think theres any saving it unless the nintendo community embraces it. Its just too weird. Maybe if it gets good reviews...

This is exactly what Sega did to Platinum games too.

Except Nintendo has more money than Sega and they can actually market the damn game.

And this is why 3rd party developers are telling Nintendo to go blow.  Unreasonable fanboys blame the 3rd parties, but the way Nintendo is letting Platinum fizzle out on their own with weak support, tells me otherwise.  Platinum is the one big 3rd party developer to jump on the WiiU exclusive train, and they may regret it very very soon.

I love Nintendo and all of their first party games, but this behavior is foul - and the sooner folks take off the distortion goggles, we can all see it for what it is.

This has nothing to do with big publishers who can market their own games. You think Rockstar or Activision need Sony or Microsoft to advertise their games? Get real.

EDIT: Also, Platinum is a small third party. Always was. Nintendo saved them by offering to publish their games. Especially Bayonetta 2.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Nintendo's been handling Wii U's marketing so badly it defies belief.

What's the point of them publishing their games if they are gonna bomb? Nintendo needs to get real with the marketing. That's the reality.

They are saving their marketing money for Pokemon & Wii Fit

I hope you are not talking about that Pokemon Rumble for the Wii U.

HA! Nope. X & Y

Well, Nintendo paid for the development, so Nintendo will lose the money if the game sells bad. Still strange.

So, Nintendo wants to lose money. The game is coming out in a few weeks in Japan/Europe/Australia and no marketing! Nintendo's marketing team needs to be FIRED.

Nintendo's marketing team is way of atm. They have been for a few years now. It's their biggest problem if you ask me. Haven't seen a decent commercial from them in ages.

And I like the idea of W101 as a game using NPC toys. Should have been the priority from the start, seeing as Pikmin 3 is right around the corner too.

You know what? Nintendo should start a monster marketing campaign starting the holiday season or something for most if not every major Wii U game.  Have a Sonic cartoon to promote Sonic Lost World, air the 3DS Pikmin shorts on a cartoon channel, start a promotional Bayonetta anime and stuff like that.

I agree. However, a big marketing push isn't needed if they do small, incremental and most importantly very good commercials to begin with. Make people want their consolens/games, and make them know what the consoles are, cause many still doesn't know about it.

But we saw it with Kid Icarus Uprising that if Nintendo want's, they sure can market the heck out of a game, and the sales will show the results. I'm just hoping they will do the same with X.
