A comment for people who think the PS4 will beat out the Wii U by the end of 2013: are you ****** delusional?

The Wii U is currently at 3.19 million. Assuming it has fairly low sales of only a bit over 100,000 a month (DESPITE the impending holidays and multiple major titles), let's say it reaches 4 million by the end of the year. I'm personally predicting closer to 7 million, but let's just say 4 million.

For the PS4 to beat that in, say, one and a half months, it will need to sell a million units every ten days. The Wii and PS3 COMBINED barely managed this back in 2006, the One has a large fanbase leftover from the 360, there's still a recession, and there's a lot of 7th gen software coming out too, including a lot of the supposed killer apps for the 8th gen consoles!

If the PS4 were to beat the Wii U before the year's end, it would probably go on the be the best selling console in history by tens of millions of units.

Love and tolerate.

Wait, how can the WiiU get to 7 million units selling 20k/week, that is around 80k a month, which would lead to 480k, bringing the console to 4 million, what kind of miracle do you expect to happen?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Honestly people would think that Sony would just beat them in pre orders. But the reality is that the WiiU total sales numbers is a little over 3 Million. Then you got 5 months until the PS4 is released, The WiiU could gain another million, its unlikely but it could happen seeing that the WiiU has sold in these first months of 2013, 944,365. so thats a little under a million. with the WiiU sales dropping fast, i dont think they get another million in by November. But the point is, it gonna take alot just for Sony to reach that 3 Million in 2 months. But they can and will do it, because when the next gen consoles launch the eyes of the consumer will be removed from the WiiU window and to the PS4 and XB1 windows.

At it's insanely high price and with a lack of PS3 games at launch, the PS3 did 1.8M. And if the WiiU could sell 3M during that period, the PS4 can do more.

I guess you could call it a miracle that by that point games will be coming to the console.

Probably in 2016, but it depends on how people react to the PS4 post launch. I wouldn't be surprised to see the gap increase in 2014, for example.

Don't forget something we call the "holiday season", where the system could hit 500k in a week.

Is it really important for one console to surpass another console in sales?

Some here believe so (you need only look at people talking about the PS3 "winning" the generation if it passes the Wii in 4 year's time), and it is a sales site after all. You have to expect this type of discussion!
