Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will we ever see an all digital Xbox 360 console?

What does the community think...will Microsoft (or a 3rd party) ever launch an all digital version of the 360?

Something small like Ouya with no disk drive?

Perhaps a handheld such as Nvidia Shield that plays digitally bought Xbox games?

Xbox 360 has shifted its features and interface many times in its lifespan and it would be such a shame to stop evolving the console. I'd certanly like to see a small portable Xbox 360 that lives and is gaming in the digital cloud in 2-3 years time.

Thoughts?

no

you mean like the psp go, it might end up doing as good

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

had a similar thought while dl max payne and crisis yesterday. they should have upped the storage ( a TB maybe)for the same price or a bit lower on the X360E. Since focus has shifted to One I doubt this will happen

Maybe kinect 3.0 but not 360... I mean why do that when they can create a new service and stream old and new games?

Yeah I'm thinking more in like 3-4 years. I think its too soon to do digital Xbox 360. Microsoft has build up a huge digital gaming network on the 360 and as long as they have this live, they have a product that can make them money. Since they are focusing on Xbox 1, they wouldn't even have to make hardware, but license it to 3rd party hardware manufacturers...Like an Archos Xbox360 HDMI stick lol

I don't think Microsoft will bother as they seem to focus only on products that tie in to their other products...but it sure would be awesome.

I do think at some point MS will offer some kind of streaming service for 360 games and old games if the demand is there. And it might be also that they offer a very basic 360 box that just plays digital games at a very low price. It could be cheap enough to compete with other simple boxes such as the ouya or Apple TV gaming. There could be a place in the market place for a basic digital only 360 box sometime in the future if they are committed to keeping a cheaper gaming solution for those that don't want a powerful expensive box but still want a gaming box for their living room.
