Well, it's pretty hard to disagree with you when you are stating facts.

HD development caught them by surprise, forcing them to release low-end graphics titles initially such as New Super Mario Bros. U, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, etc., while also forcing them to depend more on third parties to help them develop games like Super Smash Bros. 4.

They will get used to it soon enough.

Just wait till August 4th

You expect us to judge the console's first year... halfway through it?

lol

Their one year head start doesn't mean anything, I can already see the Ps4 outselling it by mid to late 2014 & the Xbone will outsell in early 2015. I think the WiiU will probably be discontinued by 2017 aswell.

Last time I checked it was sort of a 7month lead and they sold basically as much WiiUs as Sony sold PSvitas in 2-3x the time so not bad for a console without games and media and stupid fanboys constantly DOOOOOOOMING

fair enough. Ok then how has Nintendo been doing with their head start in general then?

I think the more alarming thing than Nintendo doing less than alright with the Wii U's first year is the fact that, recently, there have been too many threads starting with Gaf in their opening sentence.

What's with this back-stabbery of VGC?!

That's better. They got off to a good start but they've been doing awfully since January.

Context is important, though. With hardly any significant releases in the past 6 months, the Wii U has still sold nearly a million consoles year-to-date, while it has at least one major release lined up for each of the remaining six months of the year.

And yet, whether it winds up with a head start of 4 million sales or of 14, it hardly matters until we see how well the PS4 and Xbone sell at launch.

I'm very interested to see how well sales start to pick up once games are actually being released.

That would be quite a feat. In comparison, the Wii which has seen phenomenal sales (pushed by many non-gamer buying the console) in the 7th gen passed the Xbox 360 in the month of August 2007 so 9 months after launch. You're pretty much forecasting the same kind of success for the PS4 which I highly doubt we will see.
