I'd say that they've done OK so far, however I'm not sure about the rest the year.

lol whut!? You're OK with a 7 month drought, but you're not sure about the rest of the year when it actually gets games?

You know what? It's time for some perspective. I bought the PS1 at launch day december 3 1994. It had 1 game worth buying. PS1 sold 150 000 units in its first month of release. It was labeled a resounding success and Sony issued press statements to the media bragging about its amazing launch.

3 months later another quality game was released, Toshinden. At the time it was a must have and I got it. 3 months later, Tekken arrived. The PS1's 3rd must have title in 6 months. I got that one, too. So a total of 3 quality games within the first 6 months. Later that year, it released in the US. it sold 100 000 in its first month. Sony issued another press release celebrating an amazingly successful launch. A little while later it launched in Europe and sold similarily.

On january 1996, the PS1 had shipped an amazing 3,4 million in 13 months. Sony was very busy congratulating themselves and the gaming media reinforced what a success-story the PS1 had become.

Fast forward to this day in the year 2013. Witnessing these doom and gloom events with a perspective on history is just hilarious and sad at the same time.

Around the Network

I will not believe that 12% of people on VGChartz do not know what a Wii U is. Every 2 minutes there are 10 threads spouting its doom and gloom.
Proof that some people are..... a bit... simple? maybe?

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

The drought was done on purpose. They just wanted a few units sold and then release all the big named titles when competitors come out with their systems!

The Next Gen War begins Holiday 2013!!!!!

Lol that would be crazy, just like when people said they priced 3DS too high on purpose so when it got a price cut it seemed like a much better deal

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The really screwed up. I will never buy a Nintendo system at launch again because of the Wii U.

They just blatantly lied about the games that would be available in the "launch window". I bought a fucking Wii U for Pikmin 3, here I am still waiting for that shit.

I mean, the system has had nothing at all, Wii U owners were screwed hard.

I want Nintendo to lose badly this gen. Something needs to happen to kickstart them, because as of right now they are doing awfully.

Looking back and comparing 1st years on market (approximately) for various Nintendo consoles (notable games):

SNES 1st year: Super Mario World, F-Zero, Sim City, Pilotwings, Castlevania IV, Super Tennis, Contra III, Final Fantasy II (V), Zelda: Link to the Past, Street Fighter II, Ninja Turtles IV, Super Ghouls N' Ghosts, Actraiser, Final Fight

N64 1st year: Super Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, Killer Instinct Gold, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Wave Race 64, Blast Corps, Mario Kart 64, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, Star Fox 64, GoldenEye

GameCube 1st year - Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II, Super Monkey Ball, Wave Race: BS, Pikmin, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil REmake, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil 0, Star Fox Adventures.

Wii 1st year - Wii Sports, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Excite Truck, Red Steel, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Mario Party, Trauma Center.

Wii U 1st year - New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, Zombi U, DKC: Tropical Freeze, LEGO City, Sonic Lost Worlds, Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, The Wonderful 101, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U.

You can see the huge drop off in third party involvement post-SNES, the SNES in its first year had tons of third party support, perhaps most notably Street Fighter II, which became the system's biggest early on.
