Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xenogears whos played it? Is it still good today?

Xenogears is in my view the best game ever created so far.

I totally recomend it.

With that said, the graphics will look a bit pixaleted by today's standards. Maybe its ok if you play it on the PSP or the Vita.

In terms of structure its a full story and not a story that feels split in 3 parts like xenosaga. Its also lengthy. It will last you 60 to 80 hours.

XenoSaga was done by a different company right?

If you're speaking of Xenogears, then no.  It's the same developer, they were a no name developer under Squaresoft, breaking away from Squaresoft and formed MonolithSoft.

No I'm not speaking of Xenogears I'm refering to the would be sequel that was released after they left SqareSoft...I never played it..

Both games were created by Tetsuya Takahashi. who left Square Soft (Xenogears) to become a founder of Monolith Soft (Xenosaga, Xenoblade)

I know Xenosage have relation with Xenogers... but Xenoblade too? I mean... storyline.

Officially, no. But you can connect the dots if you want. Xenosaga is episodes 1 to 3. Xenogears is episode 5 and mentions what was probably episode 4.

From the ending of episode 3 i understood the team wanted to delve into the creations of the universe. Unsurprisingly it seemed to have been the theme of Xenoblade, even though i never played it.

The saga was supposed to span 6 episodes. And from what i gather Xenoblade wasnt originally part of it. But, maybe someone who played it can shed light on this. I dont see how Xenoblade can be episode 4 though, since xenogears starts in the basis of an already established universe.

Well Xenosaga did not build anything from the original storyline of Xenogears. It just features a lot of themes from Xenogears which we can also see in Xenoblade. So storywise, there is no connection but the themes, elements and style are almost all the same. Especially with regards to Xenogears and Xenosaga.

Nice to know because Xenoblade seems to be a great JRPG... I know Xenogears talk about predecessors and previous lifes ... so it is the last.

I didn't like the first Xenosaga... so I never tried the others.

I can recommend the game but it's not easy to understand. The story is heavy but also very interesting. The second disc is... well, storytelling ;) And by that I mean a *lot* of storytelling. Combat is also *very* nice and fun to play!

Xenogears isnt the last, as there was supposed to be an episode 6. But, most probably we will never see it. It doesnt end in a cliffhanger of any sort though, so it functions as a proper closure aswell.

I thought xenosaga 1 and 2 were really boring but episode 3 is quite good.

anyone ever play this jrpg?..i wish this series would could back

I believe SEGA just released a pseudo sequal for that game on the PSP. Its japan only though and i doubt its any good. Sega isnt what they used to be.

If you have played any Squaresoft PSone RPG, you know exactly what to expect from Xenogears. I still haven't finished it--my GOLLY this game is long--but what I've played I've really enjoyed.

It's also aged pretty well. Parasite Eve is the only RPG I think has aged better, but that's also kind of comparing apples and oranges.
