I d agree with you on SF -> SF64, but I still liked some tracks from 64 (Starwolf). I like very little of anything Nintendo's done in the last five years except Xenoblade. Then again, everyone and their dog disagrees with me that Galaxy 2 < Galaxy soundtrack wise.

Off topic from the original post, but I completely agree with you that Galaxy 1 had a better soundtrack than Galaxy 2. You're not alone, my friend.

Same here; both in music and visually, Galaxy 1 > Galaxy 2.

Starfox Adventures wasn't a Starfox game, it was Zelda with Starfox characters lol
Starfox Assualt was a little fun, and I loved the multiplayer which I think was the best multiplayer out of any starfox, but other then that it kinda sucked.
Starfox Comand... never played it.
Original Starfox was ok. to me it pails in comparison to Starfox 64 anyway
but one that everyone is forgetting because it never saw a release (but I played on emulators anyway) was Starfox 2, and it was AWESOME. not Starfox 64 level of awesome, but I don't know why they didn't release the game? it was far better then the original. it easily earns my award for best Non Starfox 64, Starfox game.

but out of the choices... I would have to go with Starfox Assault. I don't know why, but I loved dat multiplayer a lot xD good memories with fam I guess :p

I can't believe you made a thread like this, with a poll, and omitted the best StarFox game!

That's StarFox 2 baby!

However it's unreleased (at least by Nintendo, you can buy a SNES copy at time machine games), so you have to play it on emulator, but what a game

the original was cool at the time, but hasn't aged as well as 64 in my opinion. I think star fox adventures was a step in the right direction. I've actually thought that star fox could thrive as a 3rd person adventure/shooter, but with vehicles being a key centerpiece to the gameplay/levels. Come to think of it, something similar to starhawk for playstation3 would be amazing. Note: i said similar, not the same.

Dinosaur Planet should have remained Dinosaur Planet.

You turn Star Fox into a 3rd person action game, it becomes a generic entity far removed from what it really is, and what made it popular in the first place. Star Fox is supposed to be a space shooter. That's it's appeal. That's what made it great on SNES and N64. There really is no other games out there quite like Star Fox or SF64. It's a fairly unique entity. As such, to return to it's former glory, it needs to go back to it's roots, cut the bullshit, and just be a great space shooter again.

It can be compared to if they made a new Gradius game, but instead of a space shooter, it was a generic 3rd person shooter where you play the pilot running around on the ground shooting people with space guns. It would suck, and be totally pointless. "Starfox" Adventures was hardly a bad game. But it shouldn't have been shoehorned as "Starfox" game. Because it's not.

I have a copy; it's better than SF64. Not releasing it was criminal.

I'd have to go with the first game on the SNES. It's a really long time since I've played it but from what I remember it was pretty similar to Star Fox 64 but much much more difficult.

I would have loved to have it released on the Wii's Virtual Console. Sadly it never came.

Signature goes here!

the original easy.. i thought the others that isn't 64, kinda stunk. lol

I actually haven't played it, but I've heard good things. Starfox for SNES was around when I was a kid, so I picked up Starfox 64, and it's hard to go back.

Mostly Starfox 1 is harder then 64. I do plan to return to it and beat it, but I'm really interested in Starfox 2 since it's actually different from 64. Now that the gen is over, I have time to work on my older games.

I hear Platinum Games is interested in making a Starfox game. It would be awesome to see a rail shooter being as instense as Vanquish.

i simply disagree.  I think starfox's charm comes from it's cast of characters, and not necsessarily from it's gameplay.  I think rail shooters are pretty dated and if they came out with another starfox in this vein, at best i'd rent it.  Tried the newer sin and punishment when it came out thinking of the good times with starfox and the original sin and punishment.  I was bored as hell.  Anyway, changing the gameplay doesn't mean adding "bullshit".  I could still be a great game in the starfox universe with starfox characters i've come to enjoy.  I do agree with one thing you're speculating.  It can't be generic and still be good.  I'd like the franchise to go in the direction i've mentioned, but the last thing i'd like to see is a generic game.  However the thing that i don't agree with is that a specific genre = generic.  We definitely disagree on what we'd like to see in the future from starfox, but i guess time will tell if either of us get what we want.
