Report- Don Mattrick Left Microsoft due to Planned ReorganizationA new report says the Don Mattrick left Microsoft due to a “planned reorganization” that would have put him as the head of a newly created hardware division. Mattrick wanted a bigger role at Microsoft, but since that wasn’t going to happen, he left.

Mattick decided to become the CEO of Zynga instead, where he would have more power, and work with his old EA boss Bing Gordon.

Zynga’s stock rose 11% on Monday due to Mattrick becoming the new CEO.

Maybe thats why he gave half assed answers at e3?

"No internet? I don't know man....get an Xbox 360 or something. I'm busy playing Farmville"

what have said for a while.... but people prefer to think he got demoted.... shareholders liked him.... he was a great exec no matter what we think.... and went to zynga because he can have a real impact there and probably a better paycheck too

Didn't Peter Moore did something similar by acting like a prick at Microsoft before moving on to EA?

He left because of the embarrassment of the situation of Xbox One at E3 and how he dealt with it. The whole backlash proved deadly for some people at Microsoft. They needed a new face at Xbox to move on i guess

haha...not quite.

Have you ever personally looked for an executive job? A company CEO job perhaps? You think you're able to find a CEO position for a relevant company in the tech space within 2-3 weeks time? This takes months for a company to interview candidates, evaluate everything and hire a CEO...

But your post does sound like a great story though. Everyone loves stories...

so he was removed from xbox.

I guess it was a secret deal then between Don and Zynga after the Xbox One announcement

By the sounds of things he wanted out of the Xbox division and a bigger role within Microsoft, but they were keeping him in charge of Xbox hardware...
