Decent list. Is Yakuza HD collection coming over from Japan?

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

If the Ubisoft games are good, I'll get most of them for Wii U. Especially if they can't think of cool uses for the gamepad.

Just give me Smash, Zelda, 3DMario/Kart all in the next year(except for the NEW Zelda) I'll be set for a while. Once Nintendo releases all its major 3rd party releases they will have time to make more games. Just wait. I think we will see a 3D mario more in vein of Galaxy later in Wii U's life cycle.

Impressive list indeed.

*shrug* I'd gladly take Shovel Knight alone over every EA-published game scheduled for release this year together.

Hell, that the bulk of the titles are indie digital releases is very encouraging to me.

Different strokes, I suppose. I think indie games are generally far overrated, and there are only a handful that I think are particularly good. Shovel Knight in particular... well, I like the concept, but the gameplay video I saw tells me that they don't understand the appeal of the game they're emulating (like most indie games), so I've grown pesimisstic.

I hate indie games as much as you, but come on. He pitted them against EA games.

Really? I expected a "Retro Gamer" such as yourself to like indie games.

I think a lot of the same things could be said of a lot of AAA games. I don't necessarily see a trend of big-budget games from major publishers being of consistently higher or lesser quality than low-budget indie titles.

Take a look at Armikrog. There aren't any AAA games coming that are anything like that. There are a lot of interesting things coming out of the indie scene, and for budget prices. By comparison the AAA industry keeps churning out dozens of yearly releases for $60 apiece before DLC is accounted for. Maybe it's harder to sift through the indie games to find the gems, but you'll certainly save a lot of money if you're willing to try.

Hate to be "that guy"*, but the facts that this includes at least the first half of 2014, and that the bulk of the titles are indie digital releases is less than encouraging.

*No I don't

Actually, I find the fact that the Wii U is getting such a wealth of eShop titles, MANY of which are not in fact coming to PS or Xbox, as very encouraging. Considering that a lot of indie games are a HELL of a lot more creative and fun to play than a lot of "AAA" big budget retail releases these days, I think the more Wii U can get of those kinds of games, the better.

Also, sorry, but anybody saying that Shovel Knight is "missing the appeal of the game it's trying to emulate", is way off base. Tell that to all of the people, myself included, who supported the crowd-funding effort. SK is using many of the best elements from the SEVERAL classic games (Mega Man, Duck Tales, etc), that it is drawing inspiration from, while at the same time also being it's own unique property. Not to mention that Yacht Club Games is made up of some of the most talented former WayForward developers, a company itself that happens to be one of the best in the industry today at making actually fun, quality content.

As far as I'm aware, Call of Duty:Ghosts still hasn't been confirmed for Wii U...

Is there a reason it wouldnt? CoD comes out on anything. If its possible, call of duty is on it.

Several, actually. For one, it has been pointedly omitted from every announcement regarding the game, and they've gone out of their way to emphasize that they have not confirmed it.

I can't say I agree. While the modern AAA game environment rarely offers games that appeal to me, I do believe that the ratio of garbage to gold is still more favorable with non-indie titles than indie games. Moreover, there's more to gaming than just AAA and indie (for now). Look, I want to like the little guy and all, and I fully admit that they're more willing to take risks than their AAA counterparts, but the execution is largely so lacking for me that there are few, if any, indie games I've played that live up to the hype. Generally, the execution on indie games is lacking, which is problematic since the devil's in the details.

Okay. Based on what I've seen, I think Shovel Knight is missing the appeal of the game it's trying to emulate. I'm not trying to be an ass, and perhaps when I actually sit down and play it I'll be proven wrong, but so far it doesn't look like Shovel Knight really "gets it."
