Forums - Gaming Discussion - Prediction: XBox 1 will win the generation (consoles)

personally i think they all have good value for the price not sure they are prices for the so called casuals though, the PS4 being cheaper than the xbox at launch will have an effect though it is just common sense and in the UK for sure

Well, so long as you realize that there are already 99$ products that use voice and gesture control for tvs, and competitors range from apple, google, samsung, and even sony.

I'm not aware of any all-in one device from Apple, Google, Samsung or even Sony who can play Blu-rays, Titanfall, Forza 5, Halo 5, Skype, HDMI port in letting you see (or control) your TV while doing other stuff, surf the web and enhance your experience with Kinect 2 etc... But I may be wrong...

Now, you can argue with me about the "usefulness" of these features but it will be a matters of oppinion at this point. The facts are that the Xbox One can do all of this and Microsoft's vision is to push for it.

And while I know what you mean by what MS is doing. I just think they have a vision but are so far ahead with that vision and where they are looking that it might hurt them in a bad way at the begining. Of course Ic ould eb wrong and you are right as of right now MS offers WAY more than the PS4 or Wii U but they have to convince the consumers that what they offer if worth the current price AND worth paying for on top of their other services.

If they pull it off then they will blow both Sony and Nin out of the water because an all in one box will be ideal. So time will tell what happens! Hopefully it works out for the best though!

While I really hope it will work for them; I 100% agree with you with the fact that right now it is only speculations :)
Personnaly I would love to them successful with their vision, but yah... who knows...

More casual (IE: Wii customers) and people looking for all in one boxes too...

No chance that its getting the Wii market. No chance at all. Its far too expensive.

Right, I'm wrong with this. I was more thinking the all-in-one boxes but I was also thinking about a more casual market; not especialy the Wii one.
My mistake.

The point is, one of us will be wrong and one of us will be right.

So, it's a good idea to figure out just how valuable these things are.

Historically, people prefer to buy specialized products, not all-in-ones, aside from a couple key specific items (like phones). And you can't say consoles are like that because even the wii was specifically just gaming, and beat both the other multimedia stations.

The problem with xb1 is that nobody is looking for ALL that in one box. Casuals don't care about ALL that. The casuals want the casual parts that appeal to them, which is pretty much ONLY the voice and gesture control. If they want a blu-ray player, they can buy one for less than 99$. That's 300$ cheaper than an xb1.

The only people who will be supporting this console are the gamers, yet they are forcing the gamers to adopt the casual stuff. Why do you think ps4 is selling higher in pre-order? Because sony fans are more on the internet? It's because Sony is giving people a gaming console and not anything they don't need.

And the people who want kinect to play games? There's already a kinect on 360.

It's not going to work imagine. Sorry.
And all the xbox fans who make arguments like yours of "it's unpredictable what will happen", or "who knows", "i could be wrong", are going to see that the market MS is targeting is as vaccuous as those predictions.

Sony is dying... Aren't they worth like 18 billion. they used to be a very powerful company in 90's and early 2000's but not now. They just don't have enough cash to invest in games and in cloud gaming. I hope they can survive this decade. They have been selling buildings and other assets maybe for investing it in the ps4.

yawn, good one.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I'm surprised how many people actually responded to this thread... :-p

Seriously ?

First of all, it is not because you can do all of this with other devices that nobody is interested into having an all-in-one device, and this is what Microsoft is envisioning... Your statement (bold) is just rootless and this is the reflect of your own opinion; stop generalizing...

As far as the pre-orders; the people pre-order are mainly GAMERS, and guess what; this is not the market I was describing... The Xbox One is going to attract more people in the long term. Also pre-orders were "obviously" biased with that DRM failure from Microsoft, nothing to do again with what I'm talking about.

And Kinect on the 360? really, This is the best you can do? Guess what you can play games on a PS3 or an Xbox 360; why bother to upgrade then?...

Now stop acting like all Xbox fans or people believing in Microsoft's vision are all wrong. The truth is that you have no clue either and other than this DRM fiasco we yet have to see what the future has in store :)
