Morsi is gone now, to be honest i wasn't expecting that. I though he would have resisted being removed

Well that's what he did, he resisted too hard. He gambled, tried to play tough against the army and used far too strong rethorics. It's a huge gamble to do that when you have no guns backing you, against an army establishment that still sees itself as the ultimate power and "protector of the people" after decades of army dictatorship.

The next MB candidate will be smarter and more patient with his strategy to transform and adapt Egyptian society to islam. More a wolf than a lion.

Yeah it could go anyway now. Hopefully, no Islam extremists in power though. I don't think the people would except a dictatorship either. But, i'm don't even know what they are protesting against anymore. All this unrest won't go anytime soon though.

Egypt was better off under a military dictatorship. Democracy in Egypt was a failed experiment: the democratically Muslim Brotherhood has been kicked out by the military.

Your country is in a heap of troubles if you are better off under a military junta than you are a democratically-elected leader..

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It really sucks that Egypt is going through this. They elected Morsi, but he has pretty much done a bad job as president. The economy has tanked and the crime rate is soaring. The constitution he, along with the Muslim brotherhood and military, put into place has definitely favored their own interests. The opposition has had their rights and representation minimalized and they feel they have no voice in their government. Things like this has led to morsi's approval rating declining and the protests that have occurred. What is astonishing is that there are more people protesting than people who actually voted for him.

As for today's events, it does not look good for Egypt. The arrests being made are going to force the Muslim brotherhood underground. It is never a good sign when 30% of your population feels they are being attacked. While I don't see a major civil war breaking out, I definitely see a possibility in a rise of terrorists attacks in Egypt.

protesting a coalition police state. Once the entire middle east is free from foreign influence, USUK will have the biggest debt in all history. Israel will be arab again and peace restored.

Maybe just maybe, my fellow americans, when mass poverty strikes us, we will go to the streets and take back OUR rights.

I think this is what's needed in Egypt: a demonstration of, should the elected decide to govern for their voters and not for the ENTIRE populace, then they're not going to last very long.

Does anyone else wonder if Iran would still be a Theocracy had they had the social media back then that we do today, or would it have lasted just as long as Morsi's reign?

Nope, no civil war coming. It seems the army is trying to get a solution that would satisfy everyone, in which case there will be no civil war unless the Muslim Brotherhood decides to act against the army, which I doubt. The problem isn't Muslim Brotherhood having power, it's the way they use it and ignore everyone that's not supporting them.

No, I'm pretty certain that any religious group having power, especially over an entire nation, is a bad thing. Just ask America.

Well... some religions are less intrusive than others.

America is pretty awesome and still has a lot of freedoms. That is why people come here in droves.

I'm more worried about liberals running my country. I don't much care for socialism.

I wouldn't even call it a democracy. It was just a western backed mess. No words can describe what Egypt is anymore. I swear everything the west touches goes to shit in the end.
